Personal Information

Barnett Henderson was a Brujah of the 11th Generation.

Appearance

Barnett, upon arriving in Brisbane, sported a brown longcoat, a white (and dated) formal shirt, a pair of brown trousers, a bandana tied around the neck, a bandolier, and a belt with holsters attached. He has of late updated to a full black suit and white, tailored, formal shirt with a Red Necktie. He currently sports a clean-shaven look, but has been known to wear a well-groomed van dyke, or a full mountain-man beard. All of his hair is brunette, and his eyes are blue.

Personality

During early Chron Barnett was truly angry at his lot in life, by the end of it all he'd come to peace.

Mortal World

Before embrace Barnett was a Doctor, both surgical and diagnostic. He moved to Boston in 1876 to go to Harvard, before moving back to Austin (Texas) in '82. He returns again to Boston in 1893 to pursue his own fortune despite already being rich. He opened up a stay-in clinic that should very well have been performing at a loss, if not for Financial backing from Anonymous source, and other business ventures.

Timeline

  • 1860 - Born in Texas to Barnett Henderson Sr.; a 38-year-old businessman who made his fortune in Gold, and Nancy Cartwright; a 16-year-old showgirl.
  • 1876 - Moved to Boston, Massachusetts for College. Studying a Doctorate of Medicine. Meets Theodore Donowitz and Evangeline Séguier.
  • 1882 - Finishes College with Flying Colours, top of his class. Moves back to Texas and opens a clinic to pay his Pa back.
  • 1883 - Barnett Sr. Dies of a heart attack, all of the Estate was left to Barnett. Barnett Jr. left the house to his mother for the rest of her life.
  • 1885 - Sold his clinic for a fair price. Moved back to Boston a rich man. Buys a multi-building large property, the buildings being decommissioned factories. 2 of the Converted factories are turned into Housing, one a Large stay-in Clinic. He often took up police work on the side.
  • 1896 - Embraced by Theodore Donowitz, Ghouls his cousin Allistair Henderson.
  • 1900 - Buys the 1900 print U.S. Edition of Les Miserables in Celebration of his release by Theodore Donowitz and Acknowledgement by Prince Quentin King III of Boston.
  • 1903 - Reclaims family home after the death of his mother.
  • 1906 - Embraces Allistair Henderson in Boston. Withdraws from public eye.
  • 1911 - Releases Allistair Henderson.
  • 1914 - Disappears for months at a time, occasionally resurfacing, until 1919.
  • 1920s - Fights against the prohibition movement.
  • 1939 - disappears for months at a time, occasionally resurfacing, until 1946.
  • 1980 - Attends the 1980's musical stage production of Les Miserables with Evangeline Séguier, Theodore Donowitz, and Allistair Henderson. All but ignores the Anarch/Camarilla war.
  • 1988 - Aaron Fontaine is embraced by Theodore Donowitz in Brooklyn, U.S.A.
  • 19?? - Kate Horton is embraced by Theodore Donowitz in Brisbane, Australia.
  • 2013 - Moves to Brisbane after attempts on his person, and the apparent death of his Cousin/Childe.

Recent History

2014

  • JAN - Settles into the Brujah headquarters with his sire.
  • FEB - Presented to the Prince, Iadro Orsini.
  • MAR - Takes action in a raid against some triads believed to be involved with the Sabbat. Later in the month he is reunited with Allistair Henderson.
  • JUN - Appointed co-leader of the Basterds along with Emily Black.
  • JUL - His sire, Theodore Donowitz is sentenced to 100 years in Torpor for slaying Prince Iadro Orsini, Barnett is then appointed Sheriff by Prince Karl Montgomery, tracked a Sabbat member to their Haven.
  • AUG - Investigated the basement of TLSO's haven.
  • SEP - Started an Investigation into the Fairytale Killer with more than half the court deciding to tag along for the ride.
  • OCT - Met Derek Scantlebury, and the Elder Kaloyan in Sydney at the Conclave, became Clan Head of the Brujah. Continued the Investigation into the Fairytale Killer.
  • DEC - Scotty, of clan Gangrel, makes a Praxis claim in the absence of Karl Montgomery, he is removed as Sheriff and is replaced by Emily Black. Captures 3 Lasombra with the Aid of Scabs, Ian Darro, and Mick Diamond.

2015

  • FEB - Defends the Toreador Haven against a Sabbat Attack which is followed by a Hunter Incursion, receives scaring that would be considered lethal to a Human.
  • MAR - Extracts information from the Captured Lasombra with the Help of Scotty, Walker, and Ian Darro. With a decent-sized task-force in-tow takes on a Sabbat Pack in their haven in the North Brisbane Industrial Area. Capturing 5/6, Slaying 1.

2017

Barnett Henderson found god again, devoted his unlife to redemption, and found love and family in the most unlikely of places. He forgave all who had trespassed against him. He confronted Teddy.

On October Second, Barnett became mortal again. A man in his prime, the world his oyster, no doors were barred from him.

Epilogue

  • In keeping his promise to Aldalheidis that, if she should perish before him, he would place her ashes in his Family Mausoleum he chooses to die by Sunlight. Vincenzo and Cassandra made the same choice and accompany him, helping him keep his promise. He places the Ashes of Aldalheidis and Hathus in the place his father would lie, if his body weren't long dumped in a communal rubbish tip some 114 years previously.
His mothers lie eternally, side by side.
With the hand of someone he had considered an enemy in one hand, and someone of the same blood of Aldalheidis in the other they step closer to the light at the entry of the Mausoleum, their voices in harmony, singing the Epilogue of Les Miserable.
His mind turns to the envelopes containing notes that he entrusted to d'Lumiere, one for herself and one to pass forward to Luella.
The words come to Barnett's lips, he cries.
“... and Remember
The truth that once was spoken
To love another person
Is to see the face of God.”
The heat of mid-autumn sun hits Barnett's skin.
It Burns.
It burns bittersweet.
His tears hit his lips, a taste of salty water.
He doesn't catch fire.
He notices his heart beating.
He thinks to himself "Fuck".
Barnett offers to buy Vincenzo and Cassandra plane tickets back to Brisbane.

Barnett heads to the Nosferatu Warrens where his chapel stands, he looks at the Latin carved into the plaque above the doorway: Leviticus 19:34.
“But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.”
He thinks back of Victor. Victor had welcomed him to this place he doesn't belong, allowed him to carve and shape the stone and the wood, strike nails with hammers.
He opens doors to the front of the church and he half expects to see Teddy sitting right where he left him, the crucifix he was left with hanging around his neck. Barnett's Mother's crucifix.
Ash sits there instead, the crucifix neatly sits on the edge of the chair as if it were placed there neatly after a spontaneous combustion was witnessed.
Barnett takes the crucifix and places it in his breast pocket.
“Thank you Victor.”
He sits down in his small living quarters out the back, and he begins work on a many weeks long effort, a large landscape painting featuring Aldalheidis sitting in in a large parlor wearing a long, white dress. A faint shine of light peers over the top her head, seemingly creating a halo. She looks happy surrounded by Hathus, Barnett, Victor, Vincenzo, Cassandra, Luella, Karl, Mr Stone, and Kaalia. They're all sitting comfortably, wearing clothes that could be considered their Sunday best.
This painting will have to suffice due to the lack of a family photo.

Barnett heads to Brisbane's Elysium, the art upon the ceiling saddens him, such Artistry can never again be replicated or restored, the Master who painted it residing in the Mansions of Rest.
He wonders if any former kindred will come to this place, most of all he wonders if he will see Luella again. It was her that had convinced him to turn his life around, the just and righteous condemnation he had felt from her gaze whenever she had looked upon him.
That this was the right path was only affirmed when they had fought the Cathayans in Toowoomba.
He fought to defend his surrogate daughter, her eyes seemed to bless him with an approval that didn't feel twisted and wrong, it was very unlike the way Teddy had made him feel. It pulled him back from the point of Fear frenzy.
He sits in one of the many chairs available and waits for someone familiar and equally nostalgic to show up.
He's an obscenely rich man with nothing but a lifetime of comfort to look forward to, he can come here every night and wait for as long as he wants.
He gets a visit from Kaalia, the former Prince of Canberra. Gone are her trappings of nightly formal drapings, she is a beauty to behold in sunlight. She requests the ashes of her family, Hathus and Adalheidis, so that she might scatter them in the home they first had as mortals.
She weeps at their loss, the father and mother of her heart, and explains that she is writing them down to preserve them in paper and words, planning on having all her clan's art preserved in musuems and other places.
She tells him that The Village is now a place for those who were formally kindred to regather what it is to be mortal again and to simply live.
Barnett purchases more plane tickets to America and takes Kaalia with him to his Families Estate in Austin to retrieve the ashes. Giving her the tour of the house and the unfortunate history that was contained within the walls, essentially giving her his life story about having to witness his mother's abuse at the hands of his father, he links it back to how much Aldalheidis reminded him of his own mother when he realized why her colors were Black and Blue.
The tour ends at the Mausoleum, he takes Kaalia in to the place where his mothers and her father rest.
He doesn't touch the small wooden box that the Prophet gave him containing the ashes, because he doesn't want them moved.
He says nothing and allows Kaalia to take the box.
He takes her from there to a Cafe that he has watched change hands so many times over the century, he buys cherry pie and tea. They sit, talk, and try to make sense of how Elders from clan Brujah and a Toreador somehow adopted children from each other's clans.
They both get sunburned.
Kaalia laughs, and tells him of her gaelic ancestry, and of her Irish temper, sobering up as she reminisces on the time she frenzied on her Atta and attacked him with her fists as he just stood there and bore the brunt of it.
She admits to a strangeness of their new condition. No longer having the strength, speed or mental disciplines of her blood that she learned over the years.
She sadly smiles as she remembers how often she used to say that their two clans were related, and tells him of how Aldalheidis' marriage was annulled, letting her truly be with the man she loved.
She takes his hand and calls him brother of her heart and ask him to come with her as she finds the right place for both Aldalheidis and Hathus to rest together in peace.
Through Europe and Spain, she holds the ashes against her heart. "This is right for one, but not for both" she says.
She takes them eventually back to Canberra, to The Village. She tells him that she was once and now again is Sorcha, not Kaalia, a name she took up to forget and bury her past. She takes him through Hathus' haven, silent tears and ragged breaths coming out from the memories. She scatters the ashes in the gardens there, which was where Hathus first confessed his love to Aldalheidis. And the once ghouls Alaric and Mr Burroughs bring forth small trees to plant where the ashes were scattered. "Oaks grow strong and tall. They live longer than most of us will now. They will last and shall shelter and nurture future generations as both mighty elders both did."
  • After about a year wasted sitting in the Elysium, painting numerous members of the Brisbane Court, Barnett packs everything, sells all of his properties, relocates his mother's casket, and builds a large home in the village to stay permanently.
He settles down, finds a wife, and he wastes no time creating the family he never got to have because of his embrace, he and his wife name the two twin daughters Adelaide and Nancy. Barnett names Vincenzo and Sorcha their godparents.
Barnett gradually learns how to use a computer and types every bit of Lore and knowledge he has learned down, along with transcribing 150 years of personal journals. He illustrates some of the places and people in these tomes and eventually is inspired enough to publish a lot of the information as companion novels to Sorcha's VtM Roleplaying game. The game's material is adapted to a television series.
Barnett stars as the main character in a local musical adaptation of his favorite novel as a young man, his performance is heartfelt and emotional, he doesn't follow up this performance with other productions.
Barnett lives another 53 years after becoming human again, and He waits patiently for his loved ones to join him in Heaven, he shares a warm embrace with both of his mothers. He rough-houses with his cousin. He savors the approval in the eyes of others for a life long lived, and lived well. He is at peace evermore.

    • Certain Kindred of the Brisbane Court would do well to remember Barnett taking 4 direct shotgun blasts in raid against Sabbat Ghouls in February of 2014, and seizing a Sabbat Member's Haven by force in July 2014. Certain Kindred of the Brisbane Court were curiously absent during both of these raids, mayhaps they are projecting their fragility?
