The Corvus

"O Crow Goddess come!
Lady of the Reaping, Lady of the Ravens
Light of Darkness, Giver of Rebirth!
She who walks the Warrior Path,
Great Morrigan, Red Queen!
I greet your beauty, your shadowed jewel
At the height of your Powers.
I greet you with a rite in your honour,
Lady of Many Forms.
Tri-fold Lady;
With your sisters at your side I would honour you,
And call you to join us this night.
I would hear the words of the Raven Queen,
She who watches over all, and has many forms.
Great Morrigan,
Wherever you may be, I seek your blessing.
Lady of the Dark Moon,
Be with me this night, and witness my ritual,
Held in your honour.
So mote it be!”

- Invocation to the Morrigan

Personal Information

Sire: The Phantom Queen

Bloodline: Childer of the Morrigan

Titles: Self Appointed: The Crow King, Guardian of the Circle, Corvus the Black.

Background: Born a heretic and died a Heretic that was the general consensus for Corvus's existence before he became what he is today. His birth took place at the start of the eighteen hundreds within a small rural community within Dumfries to a loving family alongside his best friend and twin sister Ailsa. His own Birth name was James, but besides those that existed at the time no one beyond himself knows it.

Given the great upheaval of the time, that of the very recent formation of the United Kingdom, life as a child would of been rather chaotic if it hadn't been for the fact his community did things their own way and were generally avoided and ignored by the larger world as a whole. Given the isolation of his village rumours had circulated for years that every member of it was a devil worshipper and several times the Church had sent in ministers to root out any truth to the claims however each and every time they would leave the village content that everyone was a God fearing citizen and that like every small rural community they had their quirks and oddities but were nothing to fear.

The truth of the matter was that the village was a refuge for Witches and Druids and whoever else wished to exist with others of their own kind without the church forcing their doctrines down their throats. The families, every member of each generation young or old, would gather at the Sabbats and celebrate them skyclad and exposed to the elements. James’s families patron Goddess was named the Cailleach, the washer at the ford; the great hag. Though she was often linked to death she was accepted for what she was a Goddess and the Crone aspect of the Morrigan trinity of Goddesses and given the warrior lineage his family came from it was only fitting they honoured her.

It all came to an end, when James was thirty two, when word got out when a well-respected clergyman had reported the villages for their practises; apparently he had stumbled upon them worshiping as he had become lost in the woods when returning from a trip. The mobs arrived upon Samhain stormed into the open circle and in their fervent frenzy slew every person present. James’s own wife and child bled out in his arms, he saw Ailsa fall and as he turned upon the mob he threw himself in amongst them like a beast unleashed felling a couple before succumbing to his own wounds. What happened next he has never been sure about, a woman approached from the mist and leant across him. He attempted to speak but she placed a finger upon his lips and advised she was his saviour, his Goddess, his Phantom Queen. The Morrigan manifested in flesh and should he only serve her as her guardian for all existence she would make him her eternal warrior and champion and give him the abilities to pay back all that had been done to him that night if he only swore to serve. He managed to mutter his acceptance and the night took him.

Over the next couple of years a state of grissly murders were recorded across Dumfries. In fact nearly everyone that had partook in the mob that fateful night died with their eyes missing and the preacher who had led them into their frenzy was found disembowelled, his eyes plucked out and crucified to a elm tree. The rumours circulated that a demon had been summoned by the Witches Coven before they all died and that it was the cause of all the murders, the truth wasn't that far off of course.

Bored of his existence in Scotland James, now Corvus in honour of his lady, stole away on a penal ship bound for Australia. He landed in Tasmania and haunted the prison until he found his way to the mainland. His call for justice sprung up again as he found himself at odds with slavers and those that wished to harm the natives of the land he was beginning to call home. More than once he found himself sneaking aboard a slavers vessel and slaying everyone on board in order to help the Aboriginal people who began to see him as some form of protecting demon, an image of which he was happy to keep going until he again felt the need to move on. He roamed Australia, sticking to outback settlements and feeding carefully. He hated settling, after what happened to his home, but at one time soon found himself in love with the city of Adelaide and was happy to stay and serve the court until the Livian Crusades. He fought in them but afterwards, with upheavals galore, he felt the time was right to leave Adelaide and so with his ward he vacated the city and fled back to the old world however not before leaving behind a Child at the will of the Hag.

After ten years of travelling Corvus has finally returned to Adelaide and wishes to cement himself once again in the court of the city he has come to call home. However he carries a secret surrounding the man named Kendrick Tyger of the Lancea Sanctum, a man who made the unfortunate mistake of tormenting the Corvus.

Appearance

A large broad man, covered in Tattoos and usually sporting a long red beard and shaved scalp. He generally attempts to cover as much as himself as possible, a habit from his wandering days. Being of Scots and of a warrior breed he carries himself like a predator and with the self assurance of age and skill in combat. His vocabulary betrays his origin at times, even if his accent does not.

He adorns himself with Jewellery of his faith, even if he does not show it. Usually adorned in leather and jeans he's more at home on the road than at any one place, but he's more than happy to alter his appearance if need be to fit in. He still carries his armour and robes from his younger days, though admittedly they don;t quite fit in with the modern world and they tend to sit upon their stand in his Haven.

Personality

He's a warrior through and through and carries himself like it. Always on the look out he will stalk a room once or twice before he feel comfortable enough to settle himself down. He believes in absolute justice and that above all else is what drives him on his course, he can be friendly but more often that not he carries a tone of arrogance towards those not within the Crone. He hunts like an animal and kills without mercy if need be and those who insult the Crone will get his ire up and he will not be able to calm himself until the matter is resolved. Willing to go above and beyond in service regardless of the opponent or situation.

Mortal World

Keeping to himself helped keep too many mortal eyes of off him. Too many he's just a wanderer who passes through town every now and then, or the guy with the bike that needs fixed once in a while. People tend to circulate him if he walks through the street but he attempts to avoid the larger populations as much as possible.

Information Known by Kindred Society

Corvus is old and efficient. In his first night returning to court he hunted down and beheaded Anton Wolff, returning the blood hunted's ashes to the court without so much as a second thought. He's lethal but no one knows exactly what he can do as he keeps all his cards up his sleeves and that's the way he wishes to keep it for the time being.

Quotes About

  • "He clearly loves his Mother Goddess... but he respects the Miracles, respects me for what I know, and does not scorn me for the things I don't. That's sadly unusual for my clan brethren. May his Mother keep him well." - Archived-Fatimah al-Mu'allima
