Deston Rousseau - The Ex-Seneschal of Perth - was a loyal and stalwart member in the court of Prince Marius. Where Marius was the mastermind, Deston was the measured voice that gave reason to Marius’s proclamations and put the court’s concerns to rest. He was considered the foremost paragon of kindred society. Only the most heinous of scandals were able to even attempt an assault his flawless reputation. Deston was amongst the most vocal and vigorous opponents of The Five when they arrived. Naturally, he was amongst the first to be driven from the city when The Five took power. Undeterred, he continued to actively and openly work against Archived-The Brotherhood. He was persistently the greatest threat to their rule; and was dealt with accordingly.

Deston was captured not long after the massacre at Geraldton. It is believed he had a significant hand in the Acolyte’s rebellion. Deston’s trial was not public. It did not need to be. Deston was tried and judged in private. The verdict and sentence were delivered to the Kindred at a large at a nomad-gathering by the Prince’s newest officer – The Herald Deston Rousseau.

A meagre shadow of his former self, Deston appeared vacant, and thoroughly void of personality. He was thoroughly and unrepentantly loyal to Prince Kardyva. Deston recited the immense list of charges against himself, each time without any sign of guilt or angst. The once noble and beloved Deston, now a pitiable puppet, and facilitator of the regime he fought so hard to destroy. At first he would merely arrive whenever commanded, reciting the Prince’s decree’s and laws to the Kindred, he would carry messages back and forth from the Regents and the The Five. He acts as the obvious and unrepentant spy.

The true horror of the fall was only apparent upon the Prince’s first call for a blood price from a regent. Deston was sent to collect the payment, which was standard practise, a few mortal vessels. That is, until he sank his fangs into the mortal vessels provided and drank his fill. There was confusion at first. The mortals grew faint and fell. Nearby kindred began to panic. Anyone poaching, or aiding, from The Prince’s promised vitae was dealt with harshly, but so were those that attempted to interfere with Deston. When questioned, Deston merely stated merely that mortal vessels alone were no longer sufficient. That it was the will of Prince Kardyva. He left, as the gravity of his situation sank into those around him. Their once cherished Deston, had been reduced to status of courier, and worse Blood Doll.

The Praxis continues to send Deston to the outer reaches of the city with some regularity. Often to retrieve a blood tax, deliver messages or give announcements. Deston’s presence serves as a constant reminder of the price paid for treason, and a constant test for the loyalties of the Kindred. If Deston were somehow freed, the city might be retaken and restored, but a failed attempt to attain or help Deston, would mean the death of those involved.
