Mask: Jarlath is somewhat withdrawn, androgynous and has an olive complexion with dark eyes. He is tall and incredibly thin, which he hides somewhat in voluminous clothes. He's still quite noticable.

Mien: Jarlath's skin has golden, metallic sheen which actually shows the weft of weave of cloth on closer inspection. He is rail thin, and his fingers look more like needles and chisels. His fingernails are kept at differing lengths, some of them hooked. His eyes are completely black.

Mantle: Things around him seem bright and shining and new.

Arcadia

Jarlath, and his twin brother Connaught were inseparable as they were different. But they complemented each other and where one was weak, the other was strong, and between the two of them there was little they could not accomplish. Whilst Jarlath turned his skills well to most manual crafts, he never really understood people, and what they wanted. Making a commission meant little if you didn't know what was required, and one would never succeed if you undervalued your own work. Connaught though, excelled with people, and even in their early twenties, they saw a bright future working together. That was, until their talents caught the eye of the Fae, and both were Taken.
Taken by a crafter Fae, who traded in many things, but somehow couldn't create Hedgespun and the like themselves - something always went wrong at the last minute. Therefore he took those with talent, taught them to forge and spin; weld and sew.
Sometimes ingredients were provided, sometimes missions to procure were set. Connaughts talents were used in other areas by the Fae. On some missions, thoughts of getting away through the hedge occasionally surfaced, but Jorlath would never abandon his brother. Through this, in their disseperate missions, the Fae kept them both prisoners without bars.

Escape

One day Connaught and other prisoners brought back a strange machine, broken, from the hedge. It was hidden and not given to the Fae. Along with others, particularly Archived-Angus MacKenzie, who knew what it was, Jarlath helped fix it. Eventually the old Comby Van was working, though powered in ways one shouldn't ask, and a bid for freedom was made. Archived-Connaught drove, Angus kept the motor running, and Jarlath threw things from the back at their pursuers. Angus fell and did not escape their pursuers, but the Stern Brothers made it to Freedom that day.
