Armidale Council Committee: Holidays

The Armidale City Council Holidays committee serves 4 functions:

  1. To promote effective communication between Council and the Community, particularly in relation to the celebration of Australia Day in the Armidale area.
  2. To advise Council on the venue and form of celebration.
  3. To be involved in the preparation of the celebrations for Australia Day and its promotion.
  4. To ensure effective coordination and liaison with the Australia Day Council of NSW.


Objectives

  • ANZAC Day
    • To ensure that Council’s ANZAC Day celebration includes the Official Ceremony March and Wreath Laying.
    • To provide invitation to Returned Servicemen from all branches of the armed forces and/or relatives to participate.
    • To promote the ANZAC Day Remembrance Activities to the wider community.
  • Australia Day
    • To ensure that Council’s Australia Day celebration includes the Official Ceremony where the Citizenship and the Australia Day Awards are carried out.
    • To provide a forum for community input into the venue of the Australia Day celebrations and the activities assorted with it.
    • To promote the Australia Day awards to the wider community.
  • General
    • To provide a link between service clubs and other organisations with Committee.
    • To ensure that celebration venues alternate from urban to rural where possible.


Members
