Contrary to popular belief, most of the Carnival is made up of individuals who in life were not deformed horrors, or at least not outwardly. Freaks understand full well what it means to be an outcast, and few wish to visit the curse of undeath upon those already bearing the diffi cult hardship of pariah. Instead, Freaks tend to select childer from among those mortals whose inner nature is already far more warped than their outward appearance would suggest.
