Physical description: Ilya is average height, with brown eyes, brown hair, and a casual appearance. She's friendly, but also bookish, and a touch shy.
Nimbus: The landscape around her seems to spin, causing vertigo and nausea in onlookers. Even on steady ground, others can't seem to find their footing and might stumble or reach out for handholds. Depth perception and spatial relations are limited, with an effect reminiscent of the drug in Limitless.
Membership: She's joined the Mysterium, and she's a member of the Civitatis Praefecti cabal.
Summary:
Born in 1998, Ilya (pronounced ill-yah) is a young Mage, a hardworking girl who has always favoured living and looking on the bright side of life. She wears small glasses over big brown eyes and her straight brown hair is often up in a messy ponytail or braided with a flower in it. Her clothing style is casual, with jeans and a t-shirt her most common attire, what she wears sometimes borders on hipster, but never quite makes it. She's often spotted with her a book, the iron nails that she got from her dads collection when she was younger, or occasionally with her iPad, to write things down, or carry out her school study.
While ambitious, Ilya isn't always the most prudent when it comes to playing with her magic, which has from time to time resulted in no slight annoyance for her mentors. But she always tries her best to help people, and to do as she's asked by those she sees as her betters, relying on her own sense of judgment to make the right choice, even when it means she has to say no to her superiors. Her sense of right and wrong means she could have made a good guardian, as one of her mentors suggested, but since she's already joined the Mysterium as an Acquisitor, and is happy in this role, as it suits her skillset and life-goals well.
Ilya means well, she always has. That's not to say that she doesn't get things wrong, because somehow she's wound up on the wrong side of things just enough times to know that mistakes can hurt. On many occasions, she's scraped through on naught much more than sheer determination. However, this doesn't stop her bubbly, joyful personality from shining through.
Timeline
- 1998 - born to a baker and a carpenter in Radelaide.
- 2003 - starts school in Radelaide. Goes there for some time.
- 2012 - moves interstate alone to go to Canberra Girls Grammar. Boards there for the next four years to complete her studies. During this time she meets Ana and Dandere and becomes friends with them.
- 2014 - awakens during a year 10 exam.
- 2015 - meets and is (sort of) apprenticed to Ri'Neref. He tells her about Mages and what he knows, and under his recommendations she remains in hiding and doesn't speak to the 'crazy Mages' in the Consillium. Met Dornelia and became fast friends with her, until she disappears.
- 2016 - Ri'Neref tells her he is leaving very early in the year but he lets her know to call him if things get bad or she's in any trouble. Meets Beckett Shore, who she'd been 'following since before he was cool'. Goes to several of his shows and gets to know him, and he takes her under his wing to learn of the Mastigos ways and under his tutelage continues to avoid the 'God. Damn. Consillium. Mages.' Studies with him for quite some time. He goes missing shortly after her 18th birthday. Concerned, she goes searching for him.
