Female, around 5’5’’ and with an indoorsy look to her (pale skin, a little soft). Auburn hair and grayish eyes. Her face has an owlish aspect. 25 years old and looks it.
Ivy is resilient to the horrors of the world, largely viewing them with wonder instead of revulsion. She wants to know all the details, no matter how gory.
She’s vain about her appearance and deeply hypocritical: her brood can say and do as they like, but she finds rudeness from others intolerable. She’s easily consumed by her interests, sometimes losing sleep and forgetting to eat when she’s researching whatever has caught her attention. She has zero respect for privacy.
She stares at people too long and too intensely (and wishes they wouldn’t get so fidgety about it). She speaks softly and somewhat slowly, as she’s certain people find this comforting.
It’s serpentine and monstrously large, and it twists and undulates just beneath the water’s surface, smooth scaled skin glistening with a sickly, green-black iridescence. Its head is snake-like, with three sets of unblinking golden eyes and far too many teeth. Its tongue is black and forked.
Ivy hungers for hoard. She stealthily collects locks of hair from passionate people, especially people whose passions overtake them and destroy their lives. She treasures the pieces of them that she keeps because she believes them to be closer to the Dark Mother’s vision for humanity. She feeds specifically upon their realization that someone saw them, really saw them, and took such a interest that they decided to take a piece. This usually horrifies rather than flatters them, oddly.
Several chambers take the form of a decaying library, shelves sinking haphazardly into thick black muck that deepens as you progress, overstuffed chairs bloated with goo and covered in algae. The contents of the books seem largely insane--fragments of one-sided conversations, cyclical stories, and incorrectly remembered religious texts.
Beyond them is a swamp, inspired by her childhood near the Everglades, dark save for wispy bog lights that flicker in the distance. The water is viscous and black, choked with something that feels very much like long strands of hair floating in the muck. Dark masses appear to be solid ground, but sink and slide away when one attempts to find purchase on them. One must tread water constantly to stay afloat, and the greenish haze in the air smells sweet and deeply wrong.
