Notable Traits:

  • His most notable trait is the hand crafted bauta mask that the Marquis is never seen without. Once pristine, white macrame, it has coloured with age and is itself older than most Kindred alive in Australia.
  • Since becoming National Head of the Invictus he has begun wearing a more elaborate version with the Invictus symbol on one side and an All Seeing Eye on the other.
  • Aurialanus has a more varied wardrobe than most Elders. Almost in rebellion to the stasis that grips most as they count down the centuries he will appear in the height of renaissance European fashion, one evening and an immaculately tailored 3 piece suit the next.
  • In bearing he is always exceptionally polite and somewhat paternal. Occasionally imperious but with a sense of humour that, strangely sometimes comes out in puns and references to modern culture. He is a lot more in touch with the modern world than an Elder has any real right to be.
  • He is truly, deeply in love with Sydney as a city and see's its development as his primary goal.

  • Appointed Keeper of Elysium of Sydney by Governor Bush in 1793 and has been ever since.
  • The Marquis considers rudeness to be synonymous with weakness. The quickest way to earn his ire is to show disrespect to himself or someone he considers worthy of honour.
  • His beast rarely comes out, he has made a concerted effort to keep his humanity high and his blood potency low. It surfaces mostly when the traditions, Elysium or one of his line are threatened.
  • He is in the unique position of being a close ally to the heads of both House Volmark and The Valdyr and has managed to maintain neutrality despite the centuries long feud between the two houses.
  • It was largely through Marquis Aurialanus machinations that The Pax of Fang and Fear was brought about.


Timeline

  • 1606 - Born in Venice to an English academic in the year the entire nation was excommunicated.
  • 1650 - Embraced by a powerful mystic, rumoured to have been a very influential Invictus of the court of Venice. A mystic who schooled Aurialanus in Geomancy and Alchemical principles.
  • 1650 - Is often seen in the company of a gangrel neonate. Vilrec Langlifr The two spend years wandering Europe, although none but them now remember the details.
  • 1700-1760 As his Sire gets distracted by his studies, Aurialanus played the rake in Venice with Lorenzo Penthièvre.
  • 1760 - Travels to the new colony of Sydney with Peter Bush.
  • 1790 - Arrives in Sydney aboard the Eventide with Peter Bush. They begin developing the city according to geomantic principles.
  • 1793 - Becomes Keeper of Elysium as the First free settlers arrive.
  • 1832 - Embraced Tiberius Harkonus Augustus Marcellarius
  • 1840 - Went to Paris to study its reconstruction to aid in the development of Sydney.
  • 1850 - Ghouls a promising architect and alchemist Kaida
  • 1860 - Embraces Kaida and takes her back to Sydney where they sneak into the city, reopen the Elysiums and aid Bush in infiltrating Kindred back into Sydney for the coming siege and provide intelligence on enemy movement

- On the outskirts of Sydney, he comes across Marquerite. He embraces her and sends her to Armidale into the protection of an influential Invictus (Prince or Scourge of Armidale) there so his bloodline will survive even if the Nemites win.

  • 1906 - The Night of Three Princes. Expels everyone from Elysium until Governor Julius Rose is punished for breaching Elysium.
  • 1919-1958 Is particularly active in court while his Childe and grandchilde are Governors. He blames their failed Praxies and their Carthianism on a taint that entered their blood during the Nemite War.
  • 1975 - (April 1st)Confronts Governor Gallagher over her abuse of the definition and jurisdiction of the Fourth Tradition. A newly embraced Kindred called Sylvia Bertoni, Childe of Jeremiah Stone was presented to the domain and bought before Governor Gallagher. Governor Gallagher took the fledgling away and an hour later bought her back bloodied and on the brink of Final Death. The majority of the Court sided with Aurialanus.

- While most of the court flee the city during the war with the Governor's Brood allies, Aurialanus and a few of his childer bunker down in the City's Elysiums and hold out for the next 4 years. It is unclear if he was ever a member of The Right Honourable Order of the Iron Wall, but he has been seen to wear a cravat that seems to be made from the same silk as the Order's ceremonial sashes.

  • 1979 - As Abigail Gallagher and the last of the Brood are driven from the City. Aurialanus re-opens the Elysiums.
  • 1993 - Still Keeper of Elysium.
