Order of The Broken Nest

History

In 1724 an incursion of the Strix, the Birds of Dis happened. It wasn’t know how many of the Demon Owls but a response had to be put together. A team of Kindred was sent in, they were not expected to survive with the aim of getting out three influential members of the Invictus. While the loss of Kindred lives in the rescue was terrible, the expedition succeeded, and the idea was born.
A strike force trained to tear down the Hosts of the Birds, Horrific Monsters and unexplained things, reduce the effectiveness and kill them. An Order built not for Honour, but Survival.

The Mission

Mors quia Silens Alis (Death for Silent Wings)
To Combat the Menace of the Birds of Dis, any Horror Creatures or Minions, wherever they hide.

The Holy Relic

The Staff of St Francis of Assisi.
St Francis was embraced on his death left Verna and to Preach through the Middle East. His staff was kindly donated to the Order by Mahyar Al-Sahand

Doctrine

Beliefs

While Martial Prowess is prised, but it’s not the Goal. Only through Knowledge can the Birds of Dis be defeated, and it is together we will triumph. Past members will be remembered, they honour us with their Requiem, we need to Honour their Memory.

Training

The Order of the Broken Nest focus their training in reducing a Superior opponent (Or Monster). They teach that this isn’t about Honour, this is War, and sometimes in war Sacrifices need to be made.

Initiation

Joining the Order is simple. It’s a Ceremony held by members as if it were a wake. For now they are dead, just waiting for the time and place. The Ceremony is carried out by a Knight or the Chaplain

Ranks

Soldier

The Soldier is a Resource. Trained and focused to be used as a Weapon.
Upon joining the Order Soldiers can begin training in the ways of the Order, to take down their Enemies without death, to reduce the effectiveness of something as a host.
Soldiers can learn up to the Second Level in the Mysteries.

Knight

The Knight is a Field Commander, a Soldier and a Warrior. They know their Requiem may be on the line and will fight for the greater good. Reduce the effectiveness of the enemy, tear it down into a manageable mess. Knights will often lead strikes, coordinating outsiders and soldiers alike.

Chaplain

The Chaplain Ministers to Order Personnel seeking to maintain the Humanity of the Order Members, looking after and maintain ghouls if necessary. The Chaplain has the Authority to remove any member from active combat Duty, including the Knight Commander. There are no restrictions on the numbers of the Chaplains, and they are still expected to behave as Knights.

Librarian

Knowledge of the Birds of Dis is Dangerous, knowledge of the horrors of the world can send someone mad. It is the Librarian who holds the Knowledge of the Order. There are no restrictions on the numbers of the Librarians within the order, and they are still expected to behave as Knights.

Knight Commander

The Knight Commander leads the Broken Nest, directs its members and resources. There is only one Knight Commander per Country. (High Approval)

Ties with the Order of the Iron Tide

The Iron Tide and the Broken Nest have Close relations and they often call upon the other for assistance in when needed. The Broken Nest has a tendency to look down on Honourable Combat as unnecessary respect to those who don’t deserve it.

Restrictions

Members of the Order of the Broken Nest may not hold Praxis. If they seek to do so they must resign from the Order, losing all benefits and rights. (A Prince has a Duty to the City, not his Order)
All members must be of the Invictus or the Lancea et Sanctum in proper and not through Friendship or Marriage
All Knights (not Soldiers) must maintain a working knowledge of a Melee Weapon (Weaponry ••) and show greater than average strength (Strength •••).
It is forbidden to use the word ‘Strix’, least you summon them.
Strix and Horrors deserve no Honour. Take them Down as quickly as possible
