Appearance

Mask: An ageing Japanese man in exceptional health

Mien: Shiro appears as a bird-headed tengu of ancient Japan. He has white feathers in place of hair, and wickedly sharp claws.

Mantle: The smell of a bonfire drifting on the evening breeze and the crackle of either fire or leaves

Personality

Focused but aloof. Shiro has a mission, a calling. He walks with an air of surety and unshakable confidence of someone on the path of their own destiny. This makes him a hard Changeling to approach, as your goals are almost certain to differ to his, and when that happens he won't hesitate to leave you behind. While your interests align however, Shiro will be a stalwart guardian, true to his word and his beliefs.

While he has his head in the clouds, and his eyes focused on the sun, those who oppose him will find he has a grounded body, well versed in a variety of ancient samurai battle arts, along with a few nasty magic tricks picked up in Arcadia.

Shiro claims to follow the practice of Shugendō, and believes his capture and torture at the hands of the gentry was destined to happen. He equates the Gentry to one form of Kami, who are natural forces of disorder pushing against the harmony of the world. These views would be quite unpopular with other lost, and Shiro has the good sense (or hard-won experiences at least) to know when to stay silent.

Mortal World

• Shiro has badly doctored identification papers that give his age as considerably less that is really is. He has attained basic piloting skills in the last decade and is currently making a living running helicopter tours out of Armidale airport.

Information Known by Lost Society

An unknown and currently dangerous individual. He seeks knowledge of the Metz nuclear reactor, but what sort of fool seeks destruction?

Timeline

• 1160 Taken to Arcadia (unreliable memory, possibly of Arcadia, possibly manipulated?)
• 1931 - Emerged from the hedge in Japan.
• 1938 - Travelled to Eastern Asia to avoid the war.
• 1942 - Lived in Hong Kong.
• 1953 - Travelled Asia, Europe and finally the Americas.
• 1974 - Travelled Australia, received vision of the end of the world.
• 2014 - Currently staying in Armidale while he investigates an omen.
• 2015 - Takes on the mantle of Autumn, becomes withdrawn and slightly bitter

Arcadia

• First used as an arial guardian, as a bird-like elemental protecting a floating castle.
• When another Changeling escaped, Shiro was bound to the ground, stripped of wings and often forced into the shape of inanimate objects.
• He had to 'redeem' himself by training as a 'samurai' and fight in battles, to 'regain his wings'.
• Shiro was left for dead after a bloody battle. He received a vision of his destiny, which he struggles to remember. That vision lead him back to the real world.

Recent History

2013-2014 Wandering Australia with Inari, a Kitsune changeling. Shiro speaks fondly of her, though not in any great detail.

2015 Reinvents himself as an Autumn courtier, specialising in occult investigation
