East of the Sun, West of the Moon

Another day leaves me aching

I try to wake up, but something's breaking

Here inside me, deep and hollow

A sound that no other sound could follow

I know the pain before the wound

East of the sun and west of the moon

- "East of the Sun" - Pål Waktaar

It isn't sure who found the mighty King of the East dead. Some say it was Flash, who'd been his voice of reason when the madness took him. Some said it was loyal Mushy Chamberpot, the King's Steward. In fact, most people say it was Mushy Chamberpot, the people that don't tend to be the ones who don't want to think about Huang Di going to the toilet.

All that is known is that the death of Huang Di, the shining Moonborn Draconic Fairest, King in the East, Protector of Sydney, Smith of the New Home, Accruer of Titles, marked a substantial change in the way we live. The Hedge seemed to become wilder. The possibilities before us stretched unto infinity.

The Archive told us that, if patterns repeated, and they tended to, this may harbinge a breaking down of the walls seperating us from them.

The Directions faded, but the Seasons remained.

Character Creation Guideline

(NOTE: This section will be removed once the game commences, this points will be required for characters)

  1. You were a human, exceptional in some way. Perhaps you were pretty, skilled or physically impressive. Eventually through trickery, or force you were taken by The True Fae. (How did this happen?)
  2. In The Realm of the Gentry reality overcame your ability to comprehend it and you would have lost yourself to The Beautiful Madness if you weren't able to hold onto *something* from the real world. (What do you remember? What kept you sane and brought you back?)
  3. You were able to escape, the details are lost to you but you remember the tear of your soul on the thorns, the overwhelming desire to return to your special *something*. (How did you escape?)
  4. You found people like you. Or they found you. They would have cared for you, taught you and provided a place for you to be with like minded people, allowing yourself to rebuild your life. (How did you find the Freehold? How did you join your Court?)
  5. Maybe you found your way into a Motley for safety and to stop the suspicious stares. Bound into another Pledge in the process and more duties. (Which Motley did you join? Why?)
  6. And as time progressed you made a name for yourself, stories spread. (What rumours circulate about you?)

Recent History

  • August 2013 - A summer courtier was found dead, apparently murdered by her fetch. The rumour mill cranks into overdrive; some say the East Court set the fetch on her, some say it escaped into the Hedge and has become a raving monstrosity, some question the Autumn King and his secretive handling of the affair. No-one knows where the Fetch is now.
