"I am wolf. I am Warrior. The only thing I take from my Sire is my existence. I am the master of my own fortune."

Sharpur I, called "the Great' was the second Sassanid King of the Persian Empire. During his rein, the Persian Empire flourished with conquests over the Parthians, Syria, Armenia, and perhaps the greatest achievement, defeat of the Roman Emperor Valerian. In keeping with the state of conflict, all Princes of the Royal family were trained in the art of war almost as soon as they could walk. This was no different for Kouros, 3rd Son of Hormidz and nephew of Sharpur I.

Kouros came into the world in this time of conflict, and was followed 2 minutes later by his twin sister Vashti. The twins were extremely close as infants, summers spent playing in the pools of the summer gardens and sunning their naked bodies in the sun. As they grew however, the duties of Prince and Princess began to draw them apart. While Kouros was taught sword play and military tactics, his sister was schooled in the womanly arts of dancing, singing and sewing. She could not stand to be away from him for too long however, and would steal away from her lessons whenever she could to watch Kouros, her older brothers and the other princes practice their sword drills. At night they would find each others beds and replay the days exploits tangled in each others arms.

As a young man, Kouros was expected to accompany the King's guard on their campaigns. He would depart, promising Vashti that he would return to her with riches and jewells, a promise he always kept. In their 14th year Kouros returned from a foray in the North to learn that his sister had been promised in marriage to a Prince of the recently conquored Armenia. His sister was distraught, and vowed that she would not let this middle aged oaf touch her. Kourus vowed that he would never let a man touch her against her will. That evening as he comforted her, they knew each other physically for the first time. Vashti never had to bear the touch of her husband, as they entered the bridal chamber, he fell down the stairs in his drunken state and suffered grevious head injuries. The Princess was comforted by her brother.

Persia had been at war with Rome for some time before the reign of Hormiduz I, and for most of his early reign he has been suppressing revolts among the Sistan and Kushan. The Persian nobility was growing tired of the constant conflict. During his 16th year, Kuros, his eldest brother and father accompanied the King and his guards on a hunting trip to the North. The party was ambushed by Bedouins, who immediately fell on the King. All the guard raised swords to repel the attack, but were overwhelmed by the numbers of Bedoiuns. In a desparate act to send for aid, Kouros' father directed him to take a handful of guard and return to the city. Dissapointed at leaving the melee, Kouros reluctantly agreed. A fierce sandstorm came over the hills, blocng their return, and Kuros ordered the group to take shelter in a nearby outcropping of rocks. Unfortunately for them, an Ancient Kindred known as The Egyptian has also sheltered for the day there. As the sun set and the storm abated, the creature rose from the ground, and was delighted to find that he would not need to hunt to slake his thirst. He fell on the men, and visciously drank their blood, finally turning to Kouros. The Prince however would not go without a fight. Unafraid he stood his ground, almost taunting the creature to kill him. This impressed the elder who, after drinking his fill, spilt his own blood into the mouth of the Prince. The Egyptian stayed with Kouros only for enough time for the neonate to learn basic survival skills then one evening, he departed and left Kouros on his own.

When Kouros had enough control over his beast, he went in search of his family, only to discover that the Bedoiun attack had been orchestrated by the Persian nobles to overthrow King Hormiduz. Kouros' infant cousin now held the Throne, and his family were all either dead, imprisoned or in the case of his mother and sisters, fled to Rome. Concerned for the welfare of his twin, Kouros began the long journey to find her.

When he arrived in Rome, Kouros encountered the Venture and Toreador, and his Sire Marcus Sextus, who was courting the favour of the leaders of the city. A powefully magnetic and beautiful Toreador took an interest in his story for some uneaplained reason, and agreed to help him find his twin. This she did, but not before she spirited the girl away to her own estate, embracing her as a Toreador.

Over the centuries since their embrace, Kouros and Vashti have never been too far apart. There are times when Kouros attends to Gangrel business, or Vashti travels to some city for a Toreador Salon, but the two always manage to stay close.

Kouros has developed quite a reputation within the Gangrel. He is by no means a prominent leader like his ally Karsh, but he is always willing to take up arms when needed. Druing the Anarch revolt, he defended the established kindred from the rebelling neonates, and in the New World (United States), he has taken up arms against the Sabbat.

In recent nights he is seen mainly in the area surrounding the city of Sydney, and while his twin is known to make her haven in Canberra, the two remain very close.

Appearance

Tall dignified and imposing. Kouros is the epitome of the Persian warrior.

Personality

Loyal to those who call him ally, a hard taskmaster to those of his blood, and a fearsome opponent to his enemies. None cross this Elder Gangrel without serious thought to the consequences of their actions.
