Appearance
Sumukh-Iurhir, First Tongue for ‘Barghest’ or ‘Black Dog’, resembles a large black dog made of twisting, swirling shadows with glowing red eyes. Where it walks its footprints leave a trail of ash and embers.
While most myths of the Black Dog paint it in a negative light, the Totem’s purpose is to keep pack-members aware that death or negative circumstances may come at any time, so it is best to be prepared and try to see things from any possible angle. It encourages critical thinking, rational behaviour and to always question everything you see or hear. It is a reminder of one’s own mortality, not so they dwell on it, but so that they have a reason to constantly challenge themselves, seek new ideas and information and live life to the fullest.
