History

Before her Awakening, Linden Thomas was an ordinary, nondescript, nerdy teenage girl. She was the forgotten middle child of a middle-class family, the forgettable quiet and studious student at a middle-grade high school. She did well in most of her classes, although “needs to do more homework” was a common feature on her report cards. Most of her teachers didn’t take much notice of her, although she generally got along well with her history and English teachers. Some of her peers liked to bully her, but for the most part it wasn’t worth their while doing anything much more than teasing, as she didn’t tend to react. Instead she spent most of her time buried in a book; if she couldn’t read, then she would be lost in the stories of her own head, instead. If she did have to interact with others, she preferred to do so with animals if she had a choice. Her Awakening, a couple of months before her 17th birthday, involved a sudden and intense awareness of the stories that surround and connect us.

Currently

Although she is still just a student, she tries to make herself useful to the Ardent Compass; finding out for them what they need to know, backing them up if they need her by their side or supporting them from the library if they don’t. She can be easily distracted by her fantasies, but she takes her role as the Centre seriously; it is perhaps the first time in her life that anyone has paid her this much attention, and she is determined to be worthy of it.
