Backstory
Jushur's history is unknown to most of Kindred society due to his limited exposure to others of his kind in his early years, followed by years of travel between courts across the Middle East. He also usually attempts to pass himself off as significantly younger than he actually is and is often intentionally vague or edits the truth regarding how long and when he was in certain countries to help perpetuate this illusion. Only members of the Ordo Dracul are really aware of Jushur's age and activities to date.
Jushur's early unlife was spent traversing Egypt, Persia and the Ottomon Empire digging up the ancient past of clan Mekhet and the Khaibit. After connecting with the Ordo Dracul in Constantinople in 1897, his travels across the Middle East became interspersed with trips back to London - but his travels in the Middle East have taken him as far south as Ethiopia and as far East as Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, continuing his studies into clan Mekhet's history. For the past decade he has been operating out of Dubai as the tourism industry provides him with a good cover for his actions.

- Ancient Egyptian Proverb
There was once a little frog who lived by the riverside. One day, a scorpion wandered by.
The scorpion asked the frog, "Please little frog, could you carry me across the river?"
"I will not," the frog replied, "For if I do, you will sting me."
To this the scorpion said, "I will not. For if I do, we will both drown."
The frog saw wisdom in the scorpion's words, so he let her climb on his back and began swimming across the river. About halfway across, he suddenly felt a painful sting in his back.
The frog felt the scorpion's poison flow into his heart and as death closed in on him they both began to sink into the cold water. Just before his nose slipped under the waves, the frog croaked out "Why? Now we will both drown!"
To which the scorpion simply smiled said: "But little frog... I can swim."
- Shinsei to Bayushi, L5R
I know the evil of my ancestors because I am those people. The balance is delicate in the extreme. I know that few of you who read my words have ever thought about your ancestors this way. It has not occurred to you that your ancestors were survivors and that the survival itself sometimes involved savage decisions, a kind of wanton brutality which civilized humankind works very hard to suppress. What price will you pay for that suppression? Will you accept your won extinction?
