Archived-Guild of Artifex
Overview
An Invictus guild of Artisans. The guild trains neonates in the proper knowledge and skillset in many different forms of art. The guild also provides a high quality service to create gifts for other kindred and a reputation to match.
The guild teaches that art in its many forms is to be taught to Kindred who wish and show promise of creating respectable and enjoyable works of art. Art is to be enjoyed in all its forms and the role of an artisan is to ensure that their skill is not only enjoyed by the self but displayed when ready and improved upon. The guild takes pride in the quality of its Meisters art forms.
Structure
The guild has five levels:
Note: Entry requirement into the guild in order to become an apprentice is a minimum of 2 dots in the attribute which associates with your chosen art form. Examples: Carpentry (Crafts 2), Painting (Expression 2) etc. This will be checked by Meisters in order to allow entry into the guild.
- Apprentice: Those who have passed their first evaluation and are in training, usually to a master (in some circumstances can study with a journeyman in order to hone their artistic skills), and have not yet passed their Journeyman evaluation. Considered a learner and are unable to sell or display their art form in the name of the guild. Behavior as an artist is closely watched during apprenticeship. (requirements: 2 dots in required art form attribute)
- Journeyman: Those who have shown improvement in their given art forms, knowledgeable, respectable skills and improvement and passed a second evaluation. They are considered qualified to sell and display their art form to others. (Requirements: 3 dots in required art for attributes)
- Meister of “-“:. Meisters are considered Masters of their chosen art form. (Example: Meister of Music). Those who have served at least three months in the guild and have passed an advanced evaluation. In order to become a Meister a specialization of art form must be chosen and evaluated by the Grand Meister. Meisters are permitted to train apprentices and evaluate neonates art forms for entry into the guild. (Requirements: 4 dots in required art from attributes and art specialization chosen)
- Regional Meister: Meisters vote on a Regional Meister. A Regional Meister will have their own specialty as a meister and are required to liaison with the other Meisters in their given art forms and report progress to the Grand Meister. There can only be a Regional Meister of a given art form at one time. (Requirements: Must have previously been a Meister for 3 months)
- Grand Meister: The head of the guild. The Grand Meister adminsters evaluations of rank (from Journeyman to Regional Meisters)
Invictus
The guild is an Invictus guild, but it has been known in the past to train those of other covenants in the proper development in forms of art. Only Invictus can be Grand Meisters of the Guild.
As an Invictus guild we take pride in the fact art in its many forms are the most often gifted items within Kindred society and as a guild we wish to achieve a reputation to provide an exemplary quality of art for gifting within Kindred society.
Gifting
Giving gifts to other kindred is making a statement, regardless whether given in public or private. The only thing that makes an even better gift is the quality of the gift. This is where we strive to achieve our reputation among Invictus. The significance of the quality of a gift is important as among Invitus gifting (even small gifts) is done often for many reasons including acknowledgement of friendship, blood ties, affection and in other cases to indicate good terms or the completion of a deal. Gifting is an intregal part of Invitus society. It is also in fact a custom that should a dispute between invictus be settled, an exchange of a paltry gift given as a sign of good will.
Should any kindred choose to wear a gift it means much for the gifter if the quality of that gift is exquisite. Even more so that the quality is so grand the giftee wishes to wear it. Gifts come in many different shapes and sizes and often are chosen by kindred knowing the likes and dislikes of their intended receiver. This makes each gift unique and as of such guild members may be expected to produce such items as requested. Giving a member of higher status than you a cheap gift is very likely to be considered highly insulting. Circumstance smiles on us as we as a guild strive to create appropriate gifts.
Joining the Guild of Artifex
Neonates wishing to become apprentices of the guild must first request an interview with a Meister. The Meister will then interview the neonate and a piece of their art or art form must be presented to the Meister to be evaluated. Once the Meister is pleased with the Neonates chosen form of art and shows future promise then an invitation will be extended to join and instructions given to train under a Meister. Gifts and or boons given from applicants to the Grand Master can work in their favor when applying.
The Exams
The Grand Meister administers the evaluations. Generally an apprentice will be required to produce 3 (in total) works of art before they can be considered eligible for promotion evaluation. Journeymen are required to have displayed/and or sold their artwork to other Kindred to reach a quota of 6 (in total) and show improvement in their art forms. Meisters have a considerable amount of prestige for their position and must be known to be capable of such respectable behavior. They must have chosen a particular specialization within their art forms and have at least 9 created or presented works of art under their belt (in total).
