History

Tybalt left Australia in 1915 as an Lighthorsemen. He saw action in the Sinai, Palestine and Gaza Campaigns. He was embraced in early 1917 - the small Egyptian town on the coast of the Mediterranean may have had a name, artillery had left it with little else.

He spent the first nights of his Requiem in the aftermaths of the daily desert battles - observing the cost of war from perspective of a freshly made outsider - living off the dead and the dying of both sides.

After the war he toured Europe, observing the scars and desperate exuberance of the victors, the shame and growing resentment of the vanquished. He returned to Australia before the outbreak of inevitable next "War to End All Wars".

Through the 30's he toured his native country, making acquaintances and observing the Dance Macabre. By the end of the war he was back in his hometown of Brisbane.

Sometime in the last 40 years Tybalt underwent a metamorphosis. Tonight's Tybalt is no distant observer, he is a participant and agent of change.

Feb 1965 - Mar 1966 - Spends a year as vassal to Batavia.

Quotes

"Why are you here?" "I have been lead to believe you are a mentor to Princes. I am seeking a mentor." “I see. And would you be a Prince?” "I will be all I can be. Here and now I am a supplicant." “Yes. You are.” Her silver eyes glitter. “That’s a start.” Batavia finally receives Tybalt on the thirteenth day of his vigil

“Think of her as a glacier - cold, hard, inexorable. She moves in increments of decades, grinding mountains to gravel.” On Batavia
