The Help pages are to provide help on the creation and development of pages on the Beyond the Sunset wiki. Please note that all pages are currently under development.


There are a number of on-line resources to assist you in editing the Beyond the Sunset wiki pages.

MediaWiki Help Pages

The User Help section of the Media Wiki website provide information on general reading and editing of pages. The reading sections cover navigation, searching and changes tracking. The editing section covers basic features such as starting pages, formatting text, links, images and more advanced editing functions.

Quick links of useful pages:

  • Formatting - formatting of text such as bold, italics, headings and lists.
  • Links - formatting of internal and external links.
  • Images - formatting of images and their placement and appearance.
  • Tables - formatting and modifying tables.

Wiki Media Help Pages

These pages are comparable to those of MediaWiki, but on a whole more detailed. Some functionality detailed may not be available in the BTS Wiki.

WikiMedia Reference Card

A great reference when editing pages, however some of the references may be too brief and require some practice or review of more extensive help files. Available in PNG and PDF format.

Conversions

To create or edit a wiki page you my want to use existing source (such as from the old wiki) or your own files (such as a HTML file). The following may assist with this:

  • HTML to Wiki 1 - can be used to create wiki code from a HTML source, it is not always perfect so try alternatives if the results are not what you expect.
  • HTML to Wiki 2 - can be used to create wiki code from a HTML source, it is not always perfect so try alternatives if the results are not what you expect.
  • Word to Wiki - can be used to convert word files into wiki code.
  • HTML to Wiki Tables - comes in useful for complex tables that are created in a HTML editing program.
