Backstory
Jushur's history is unknown to most of Kindred society due to his limited exposure to others of his kind in his early years, followed by years of travel between courts across the Middle East. He also usually attempts to pass himself off as significantly younger than he actually is and is often intentionally vague or edits the truth regarding how long and when he was in certain countries to help perpetuate this illusion. Only members of the Ordo Dracul and select members of clan Mekhet are really aware of Jushur's age and activities to date.
Ordo Dracul Knowledge:
Jushur's early unlife was spent traversing Egypt, Persia and the Ottomon Empire digging up the ancient past of clan Mekhet and the Khaibit. After connecting with the Ordo Dracul in Constantinople in 1897, his travels across the Middle East became interspersed with trips back to London - but his travels in the Middle East have taken him as far south as Ethiopia and as far East as Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, continuing his studies into clan Mekhet's history. For the past decade he has been operating out of Dubai as the tourism industry provides him with a good cover for his actions.
Quotes
"One day cousin, you are going to have to tell me all about what it is you get up to."
"Indeed, I'm sure you would find it most interesting. ...Alas, not tonight. Duty calls once more!"
- - Conversation between Raymond and Jushur, regarding Jushur's excessively packed schedule
Quotes About
"Smart, devious and creative. And respects Mr Hobbes. His way is not that of the Wendigo. But it is strong for other reasons"
"In demand. Impressive threshold witnessed thus far."
"It'd be poor form to publicly applaud you for being one of the few members of the Canberra Court with a still-functioning backbone."
- - Eira
"We could have done beautiful, clever things together, that blue-haired blasphemer and I. He was a shining light, and he was taken from us by selfish fools. He was my brother, and I miss him very much."
Quotes By
"I couldn't possibly comment."
- - A common refrain
"Eadem mutata resurgo."
- - Jushur's briefest summary of the Ordo Dracul
"Canberra is a place of mortal power, so many kindred are drawn to it for that reason. They just forget that many other kindred are drawn there for the same reason. It's not surprising that Canberra sees many Princes as a result."
- - On the topic of Canberra
"Do you know what troubles my sleep? It's a simple thing really: if I pray to God with my back turned to a mirror, to what dark thing does my reflection pray unseen? And what dark reflection of God might whisper back? And it's easy enough to say 'I do not pray' and 'I own no mirrors', but that ignores the deeper question... What other innocuous actions taken at the wrong time or in the wrong place might allow darkness to crawl closer?"

Inspirations
Leave him in error who loves his error.
- Ancient Egyptian Proverb
There was once a little frog who lived by the riverside. One day, a scorpion wandered by.
The scorpion asked the frog, "Please little frog, could you carry me across the river?"
"I will not," the frog replied, "For if I do, you will sting me."
To this the scorpion said, "I will not. For if I do, we will both drown."
The frog saw wisdom in the scorpion's words, so he let her climb on his back and began swimming across the river. About halfway across, he suddenly felt a painful sting in his back.
The frog felt the scorpion's poison flow into his heart and as death closed in on him they both began to sink into the cold water. Just before his nose slipped under the waves, the frog croaked out "Why? Now we will both drown!"
To which the scorpion simply smiled said: "But little frog... I can swim."
- Shinsei to Bayushi, L5R
I know the evil of my ancestors because I am those people. The balance is delicate in the extreme. I know that few of you who read my words have ever thought about your ancestors this way. It has not occurred to you that your ancestors were survivors and that the survival itself sometimes involved savage decisions, a kind of wanton brutality which civilized humankind works very hard to suppress. What price will you pay for that suppression? Will you accept your won extinction?
- Leto Atreides II
Those who would repeat the past must control the teaching of history.
- Bene Gesserit Coda
You've heard of animals chewing off a leg to escape a trap? There's an animal kind of trick. A human would remain in the trap, endure the pain, feigning death that he might kill the trapper and remove a threat to his kind.
