The Armidale City Council Sports committee serves the following function:

  1. To maintain, improve and promote Armidale’s Sporting and Active Recreation Facilities

Objectives

  • To initiate increased communication between the sporting and recreation public and the Armidale Council in participating in order that the existing and future needs and requirements of those participating and those administering sport and recreation activities are accurately identified and brought to the attention of the Armidale Council.
  • To identify for the appropriate organisation those areas that may be suitable for sporting or recreation development.
  • In cooperation with the Armidale Council, Government Departments and other bodies/organisations to ensure that wherever possible optimum use is made of existing facilities.
  • To recommend to the Armidale Council priorities in respect of development projects which may be competing for funds.
  • To assist with the promotion of local sporting or recreation events.
  • To endeavour to co-operate with other agencies in order to keep the community fully informed of those facilities and clubs existing within the district.
  • To make recommendations to the Armidale Council on winter and summer allocations for sporting facilities.
  • To make recommendations to the Armidale Council from time to time of fees and charges for sporting facilities.
  • To increase sportsmanship at all levels of sport within Armidale.
  • To raise funds from any sources whatsoever to further the objectives of the Sports Council.
  • Continue to review and assess Council’s focus and achievement against objectives and project priorities.

Members
