"I remember my father Lord Reiner, the one who nearly drove our house to ruin. I remember other Lords laughing at my father behind his back. As a very young boy I remember my father morning for what seemed like years over the death of my mother while everything around him fell apart. I remember him returning from battles defeated and I remember him whoring and drinking all day and night while the fields burned and the small-folk starved.

I spent my early years training with a blade, learning to ride, learning to read and write, memorising the scriptures, learning the masteries of running a house-hold from the Seneschal and praying that my father would become something greater. As a young man I soon realised that my Lord Reiner would not succeed in bringing our house back from the brink and when I came of age I would be the one who was responsible for regain our house’s prestige. When this finally dawned on me, I began to prepare for all that I would inherit.

When I was fifteen my father cracked his head of the stone steps chasing a whore out of his bed-chambers. Seeing my father die like this, half naked, drenched in spilt wine mixing with the thick blood from his splintered skull haunted me for many years. It made me a cold man, but I am thankful for it also gave me the piety the strength, the determination and the bloody-resolve to restore out house to glory and endure for centuries."

Damnation

Godric had become a pious man and demanded that each night a priest from the local church performed communion in the chapel of Volmark stronghold. Each night from the day that they were married, Godric and his wife would consume the sacramental bread and wine of their Lord Savour and ask for the blessing of a healthy child. But war came to the lands of the Volmark, resources began to deplete and during the winter of the second year of their marriage the grain stores emptied. Godric demanded that more grain be retrieved insisting that the sacramental bread was a crucial element of maintaining their Lord’s favour. So the monks and priests made do with what spoilt grain they could scrounge making trays of bread from the rotten, mouldy wheat found in the old stores of an abandoned ruin.

The consumption of bad bread slowly began to take its toll as the disease known as Saint Anthony’s Fire began to burn in the blood of Godric, Christiane and their unborn child.

A year past and the first child was borne lifeless.

A second year passed and in the year 1548 Christiane died giving birth to her second son. Drowned in the blood of childbirth and her necrotic gangrenous wounds, she passed painfully from the world. The second child was borne living, but only lasted long enough for the dead flesh of his limbs to rot painfully away, haunting the Stronghold with his eternal screams. Godric stayed by them through it all, knelt in prayer for weeks. So resolute was he in prayer that he did not even raise his head to witness the last whimpering breath past from his son’s lungs.

With his wife and child dead and ravaged by the disease know as holly fire all the warmth in Godric was gone. He refused to morn for his lost and had his surgeon carve out his tear ducts so that he could not die weeping. He atoned for all that he committed a prepared to except the death his illness would surely bring. But as the months past he recovered. As a withered husk of the man God in a single stroke cursed him with the pain of damnation and given him another chance to save his House and prove his devotion.

The Embrace

Godric’s embrace was an exceptionally formal event. He was made with respect to the ceremony listed in the Cannons of the Lancea Sanctum after a significant tutelage from the Invictus. In truth the embrace made little change to Godric. The reclusive, dark and dangerous Lord, cursed by God was a life that he was already accustomed to. In many ways Godric took to the Requiem like a sea serpent to water. There was no malcontent between Godric and his sire. He knew that his sire was acting as an agent of God. Godric understood that he was already cursed and his only hope was to do God’s work for an entirety in search of redemption. If this meant excepting damnation then so be it.

Quotes About

"They fear me, these children. As well they might. But I am only a particularly strong limb of an ancient tree, from which all my brothers and I draw our strength. He who stands behind me, he who made me, is leagues above and beyond me, in greatness. And in monstrosity. These fledglings, these mayflies, these dustmotes dancing lazily in the light...they should meet my Sire."
- Batavia
"You put oil and water in the same space, they don't mix. one sits like scum on the other, until it gets burnt off, scooped away, or a really strong wind disperses it amongst the water, suffocating anything unfortunate enough to breathe it in. No, I'm not referring to anyone in particular you nonce."
- Anthony Desmond

Rumours

  • Has a special weakness for his first childe.
    • No, he just respects her counsel, because she was his Seneschal for a century. Godric has no weaknesses. Pfft.
