Kardyva

Those meeting or seeing Prince Kardyva for the first time are frequently caught off guard. The feats and reputation of the coterie he leads are the stuff of legend. Those he associates with and appears to favour are often enormous personalities like Sheriff Lanz and Harpy Serena, and yet, he is one of the most unassuming Kindred one is ever likely to meet. He has been described as mild mannered, contemplative, a man of few words thoroughly unremarkable. His clothes are always appropriate and practical. He is just... ordinary.

Prince Kardyva is perpetually calm and supremely confident. He speaks in plain English without fancy words and double talk. When he speaks, it is in foregone conclusions, as though his will was somehow inevitable. He will tell you what is going to happen, what you will do, and if you are lucky what the outcome will be. Prince Kardyva does not assert himself. He does not cajole, intimidate nor persuade. He has no interest in making allies, not even winning their cooperation. He simply does not have to. Perth moves according to his design and no one understands why.

Commands and decrees are stated as a matter of fact, and only once; if he deigns to mention them at all. There is room for neither discussion nor question. The announcement and enforcement of law falls to his officers who do so with neither question nor hesitation. They know their place, and know it well.

Those that have had the rare opportunity to speak with Kardyva in person insist that something odd yet unidentifiable, accompanies the conversation. Recounts of such meetings includes the sensation of being watched by a thousand pair of eyes or a feeling as though he were addressing someone other than those present. Particularly attentive Kindred report subtle quirks in both his stare and speech patterns, but cannot quite place what it is.

The number of genuine kindred gatherings Prince Kardyva has attended since taking Praxis can counted on a single hand, yet there are none more in touch with the pulse of the court of Perth. He knows who holds the reigns outside the city, including those in the shadows. He knows who owes whom and he knows who havens where. He knows a great many things that he should not, that he cannot know, yet he does, and all without leaving his throne.
