The Cowboy has lived a simple life. He was born on a farm. Raised by mages, proximi and sleepwalkers and seldom leaves the farm for the outside world. This is why he has such a close connection with his family. His mother Chaos Emerald and his father Passionfruit were always there for him. They showed him a different way to live, to the norm at least. In fact, until the birth of his siblings Radiant and Forward Thinker, 3 years after his birth, he wasn't actually registered to be born. When the government became aware of them, his Mastigos father went and made sure the, at that time, handwritten documents 'were written 3 years ago'.
In his childhood, he was closely connected to his cousin Carter. She was the older sister he never had. She was his idol. In fact, The Cowboy had so much faith in Carter that he joined the concilium, when Hierarch Andrews was in charge. After Andrews passed on, he left the concilium to it's own devices. Not because he didn't like Hierarch Icarus, but because he ran the concilium effectively enough that The Cowboy felt confident that he could expand the amount of produce he was farming.
He is the son of a promimus, from a smaller branch of a well known proximi family, and an Awakened mage, whom although isn't part of a proximi family: have quite a few awakened family members, and as such, sleepwalker members as well.
The Cowboy has three children and a wife. His oldest child, now known as 'The Spirit' awoke recently and is quite competent with the Spirit Arcanum. The Spirit is 17 and is about to finish year 12, which his father (The Cowboy) made certain he completed. He likes Rugby League and cars. Basically he's your run of the mill 17 year old boy, whom is quite powerful.
Then there's his daughter, Stephy. Stephanie is 11 years old and is an aspiring actress. She regularly attends classes and rehearsals at the Theatre of Dusk and Dawn. Steph is a sleepwalker and has luckily escaped the curse that haunts the rest of her family. Stephanie is his princess. If you hurt her, if you insult her, if you call her a name, he will hunt you down and you will not have a good time.
His youngest, William, is believed to be a proximus. He has the same eyes as his father and appears to be abused due to malnutrition. William is only 8 months old. However, he has already learned how to talk and walk. This is clearly evidence that he is gifted somehow.

Age: Appears to be in his late 20s except for his eyes.

Various nicknames and aliases: The Cowboy (to mages), James (to sleepers). Neither are his true name.
Physical description: An undernourished farmer whom often wears a long sleeve shirt and jeans. He wears cowboy boots and his gun sits in a pouch on his belt.
His eyes are a vibrant emerald-green, a shade of colour out-of-place in human genetics. Most people assume its contact lenses. Most mages assume its a vanity spell. They're both wrong.
Nimbus: Everyone around him has the flavour of fresh fruit in their mouths and Steve Miller’s “Joker” seems to play from the inside of their ears. Neither can be masked whilst he is casting vulgar magic.
When he casts certain rotes his nimbus is significantly less powerful than it normally is.

- They are letting the Age of Reason push them over and revoke their right to use magic.
- For letting the Age of Reason ruin his crops.
- For not running the concilium like adults.
- For screwing with Carter's mind. Especially after the hell like experience, she must of been through.
