Amber
Overview
There are only two real places in all of creation. The Courts of Chaos lie at the very edge of the pit of Chaos itself, a seething cauldron from which comes all that is or ever will be. A the other end of creation stands Castle Amber, bastion of order and stability, crystalising reality around itself. Stretched between, from the light of Amber to the dark of Chaos, is shadow. These shadows are parallel worlds that exist in the tension between the two true worlds of Amber and the Courts. Royals of Amber who have walked the Pattern can alter or create new shadow realities by choosing which elements of a shadow to keep, and which to subtract, shifting reality so they may traverse freely through Shadow. Members of the Courts of Chaos who have traversed the Logrus are also able to travel through shadow.
The Patternfall War is over, but the conflict has awakened something in the Abyss. Oberon and the elder Amberites have left to deal with this threat. They have gone into the very Abyss itself. No one knows when, or if, they will return. They have left Amber and all of the known Multiverse in the care of their descendants. Their absence leaves a vacuum of power in Castle Amber and the Golden Circle shadows they once controlled.
Here's hoping his grandchildren’s squabbles for control do not destroy the multiverse before Oberon's return.
The game
The game is the Amber diceless roleplaying game. The book is available in pdf from DriveThruRPG.
The game is set in the world of Roger Zelazny’s Chronicles of Amber series after the Patternfall war and the events of the 5th book in the series. We recommend reading the books, but it is perfectly okay to play without having read the books.
Intention
The intention is to create a long-running national Amber game heavy on PvP political play and family rivalries. Initially this will be a local troupe game running Canberra, but other domains are welcome to create their own games to add to the chronicle. Eventually I hope to create a sanctioned national Amber chronicle that gets a slot at our national events. In order to facilitate this, the local games will be set in close shadows to Amber (Golden Circle shadows), with only games at national events (Conclave and/or Noctis) to be set in Castle Amber itself.
Rules changes
In the interests of making a long running national game with multiple venues, and multiple Storytellers/GMs, we need the ruleset to have a bit more consistency and transparency than is typical in your average tabletop Amber game. So we've made a few tweaks to the rules. It looks like a big change at first, but we've done our best to retain the basic principles and overall feel of the original rules.
You can check out the full list of rules changes here.

Information for New Folks
Information for folks new to Beyond the Sunset
Welcome!
Beyond the Sunset is an Australian live action roleplaying club. The club mostly focuses on long running national and international games using White Wolf’s World of Darkness setting and system. This allows us to play games in many cities that are all part of one chronicle, usually running for 5-7 years for each chronicle. We have national events every year with up to 100 people from across the country playing a single session.
The club is also able to play non-White Wolf games. Amber is one of those games. Initially it is starting as a single game in Canberra, however we are hoping other domains (branches of the club in other cities) will start games that will exist as part of our chronicle.
You will need to join the club in order to play. This is so you will be covered by our insurance.
Membership is free for the first 6 months. After that introductory period it’s $25 per year. You can sign up on our website at www.beyondthesunset.org.au.
