The officers of Prince Kardyva’s Praxis are all unconventional. They are each hard to interpret, their actions difficult to predict and their motives impossible to fathom. Not so the Seneschal Adrian Benedict. His stance on each and every matter is made abundantly, (literally) painfully clear. He has the bearing and manner of a kindred with too much to do and no time to waste. He is direct, concise and has precisely zero patience for insolence. Though he composes himself well, there is an unmistakable ferocity behind his otherwise regal demeanour. Every command, every ruling, carries with it a palpable sense of threat.
Seneschal Benedict was embraced in his 40s. He dresses as he acts; an unyielding, unmoving social force that maintains order and control over the court at large. He dresses in classic, regal attire or well cut modern suits. He alternately presents with both a long, grey beard and clean shaven as the whim strikes him. Whilst he is resented for his inflexible stance on most issues, he is simultaneously held in extremely high regard as the one man able to keep the rest of the Praxis officers in check. The court at large considers him a necessary, and welcome, evil. Benedict’s primary concern is the maintenance and management of Perth city, with the outer lands a distant second. He does not interact with the court at large very often, but does maintain semi-regular communication with the various regents. When he does grace the fringe towns with his presence, something serious is underway. His last such venture preceded the infamous Geraldton massacre.
The Seneschal demands nothing short of absolute obedience and the utmost respect. Failure to comply with either of these requirements reliably results in swift and severe punishment. He does not give warnings, and cares nothing for your wellbeing. He has no qualms in commanding a sire to set fire to an insolent childe, or taking both the arms and fangs of a nomad thug. His one and only interest is maintaining the order of Prince Kardyva’s Praxis and he does this absolutely.
For all the severity and ruthlessness Benedict employs, he has a reputation for being rather level headed when not provoked. He will answer questions and queries sent to him by any acknowledged member of the court, within reason. As approachable as he may be, he does not take kindly to having his time wasted. Should simple law queries or problems consistently arise from the same covenant, clan or coterie, the leader of the group in question will receive a summons to the City. Most come back angry, and proceed to clearly explain that anger to their juniors. Some, however, do not return.
