Recent History
As Esteban Cortez steps down as Prince, Bertand claims praxis then defects from Invictus to Ordo Dracul after a month. Despite having marshalled the court to defeat an infestation of neonate 'blue-tattooed Brood', Bertrand is forced to step down by Lady Tempest, who picked a night where many of Bertrand's supporters are absent. Bertrand responds by orchestrating a kidnapping at Tempest's haven, claiming the Prince is dead, then having a truck full of tomato sauce driven into the foyer of the building where the 'emergency court gathering' is being held.
Bertrand then rallied his followers into an uprising and marched on the rest of the court, leaving shortly before the confrontation.
Bertrand's current whereabouts remain a mystery to many.
History
Bertrand has history in Armidale with a long period of absence. His history before 1980 needs to be confirmed for accuracy.
1870-1910: Newly embraced in Armidale, kept a low profile, silently watched and learned from other Kindred, not active in court except when called.
1911-1923: Known in the Kindred community as 'Bloody Bert', who would commit acts of horrific violence on behalf of others for minor boons.
1939: Falls out of favour with the court over suspected but unproven links to violent masquerade breaches. He is told to leave Armidale before the investigation finishes and does as directed.
1940-1952: Is believed to have been inhabiting the wilderness in the Hunter Valley region, preying on humans and animals alike.
1952-1980: In torpor.
1980-1999: In seclusion from other Kindred, claims to have learned to restrain his beast through a combination of meditation and vigorous physical martial-arts training during this period.
2000-2008: Kindred of no fixed abode, surviving on the fringes of society and narrowly avoiding final death by the strange creatures that inhabit the world. This period ends when animal blood will no longer sustain Bertrand, but he is unwilling to enter torpor again.
2008-2013: Returned to the Armidale region claiming to be a remade man. Apparently very different mindset and demeanor than before, only betraying his past when forced to anger. Became involved in Invictus politicking and rose to Gangrel Priscus though natural leadership and application of superior force.

- Has a 'understanding' with Mr Lucan, whatever that means.
- Mr Hills never truly recovered from his brush with the beast, instead he has developed a split personality, one which is the civilised and controlled Mr Hills the other is his past self Bloody Bert. It is this shadow that emerges some nights that is responsible for the recent spate of gruesome deaths in the New England.
- Gets a little flustered when gatherings aren't as strict as a full court meeting.
- Animal form, particularly changing into swarm of ravens, exerts disturbing psychological effects on Bertrand.

Bertrand has a well kept haven, but never sleeps there, instead preferring natural dirt to meld with. His retainers keep his haven well cleaned and ready for use and 'lived-in', should the need arise.
