Introduction:

When you see...feel...live the horror that is The Hag in your torpored nightmares you can think little but how to shelter yourself and honour The Dark Mother in order to exist for another night. Regardless, you struggle (at first) to function in normal society, so you take to the hills, or the sea...anywhere...so long as you're moving. But there is safety in numbers. There always has and will be, you just need to find the right people...and we're the right people. We are the Druids and Dryads of The Hag, blessed with the curse of The Hag. Through trials and tribulations we have discovered that no matter how far you may venture, The Hag will always find you. The only way to keep her at bay is to honour her, be it through sacrifice, shows of power, the embrace of another, or even diablarie...it is even rumored that certain circles of protection can be drawn and that iron wards her away. We are stronger for we are together. We are not lone wolves like the Lancea Sanctum, scaring mortals back to god. We are a group, all aiming to better ourselves and each other.

Initiation:

You need not necessarily be 'born' into the Circle. We welcome the lost, scared, confused and unwanted, so long as they have passed Initiation. Initiation into the Circle is not a physical challenge but rather, one of mental will. A lot of Kindred whom have had The Hag encroach upon their nightmares and requiems almost always never live to tell the tale, or simply go mad. We are the other side of the coin, sure some of us may be a bit skittish and batty, but we SURVIVED, and through surviving have discovered the means to honour The Hag enough to let us continue our existence...or fend her off. While in theory this may seem like a simple task, it is not and should never be looked upon lightly. Upon proving you have done so, a simple demonstration of your abilities and knowledge will give you access to joining the cult. Share your story with us, take a share of security.

Achieving Higher Status within the Covenant's Circle:

Within the Covenant as you all know, it is possible to go up in Status. As per usual, do something awesome for the Covenant and voila! You increase, however stuff that will also increase your status within the Circle includes conversion, proving your worth within the covenant via defense, aid, study, political gain etc for the Circle, improving Temples within your domain, extending our reach within other domains etc.

Who's Who:

Note: The () means what they are similar to. They are not copies of the default role with a fancier name.
Enigma (Chorus)- Member yet to take up a role within The Circle.
Maiden/Page (Vala)- Someone whom has never killed, is a virgin or both therefore a precious thing. They are almost always learning to become combat oriented or proving their worth as a potential Mother/Father.
Lilium/Gift - A gift from Kiskil-lilla or Lilith (one of the hag's forms, in which she drinks vitae during torpor and creates a childe. Sometimes the Childer you discover may not even be of the same Clan, thus a gift). Due to the nature of their Embrace, they are almost always wrathful, proud and defiant to those outside the Circle. They are compelled to find other Lilium, and bring them into The Circle.
Guardian (Valkryja)- Combatants, used to defend those in the clan unable to defend themselves (ie. Maidens/Mother/Father) (also humanity buffer). They are usually heavy combat or support-based.
Artificer (Skald)- Someone whom has delved deep into the mysteries of the world, in search of truths and power. They usually work with Guardians to obtain relics and ritualistic locations etc. They are usually scouts, merchants, light combat or escape.
Mystic (Haruspex)- The other side of the Artificer. Once artifacts or locations are aquired, through divination and communion they try and unlock their secrets. Most can commune with the dead (spirits). They are also spiritual guides for other members of the Circle.
Matriarch/Patriarch (Hierophant)- 'Elder' of the Circle. One who has sired many Childer/Ghouls successfully. They are usually higher blood potency, non-combat, support-based or politically faced representatives of the Circle.

Allies:

Not many smile upon The Circle of the Crone in general, which makes finding allies in foreign domains or even your own quite difficult. Just remember, The Circle will always protect you. There are sister Circles out there, and you will find friends in House Valdyr. You may also find allies within most Carthians as they most likely will share a common enemy.

Fitting In:

Sometimes, after the Hag has visited, she leaves behind some sort of mark. This can be an object, tattoo, wound, anything seemingly random, on or inside your person. Once inside the Circle, you are merely a member...an Enigma. You have a place, but it is yet to be decided. You must again, make a show of your worth and prove to The Matriarch or Patriarch. Seek them out, and they will delegate unto you a task. Depending on how you complete the pilgrimage, is where you will fit. The only restrictions are the rules of the city (should you obey them is up to you, but we do not expect you to break or even bend them) and should you believe you require aid, you ask and we shall advocate a guide.

View on Spirits:

Acolytes are mostly wrong about how spirits operate and which of their “gods” are actually just mountain spirits or possessed animals. However, some Acolytes conspire or coordinate with werewolves or mages in an effort to blend their religious beliefs with nuts-and-bolts cosmological stuff, as we only *really* worship (fearfully) The Blinded Queen and creation itself.

View on Coils and Theban Sorcery:

We acknowledge that other covenants have developed their own rituals and sorcery. However, while the development is legitimate, such magic represents a breach of the natural order. But Crúac is a gift from The Hag, a blessing born out of sacrifice, therefore superior to the twisted offerings of Theban Sorcery and The Coils.

Rules and Teachings of our Circle:

I should note that nothing within The Circle is taboo, but certain behaviours or execution of certain acts may be frowned upon. Remember that the covenant reveres creation (which is why the Circle reveres female symbolism) and perseverance through tribulation, not destruction. Diablerie is still a terrible crime in most domains. Even in lands where diablerie isn’t a crime, it is still a terrible sin inside the soul, and committing Amaranth should not be taken lightly. Should it be done, it should be done properly, as a coming-of-age or sacrifice. Secrets stay within the Circle. Blood-bonding in the Circle is not frowned upon but infact, encouraged. However, it should only *really* occur between Sire and Childer, Mother/Father and the younger (Pages, Maidens and Guardians) or for ritualistic purposes (such as enlightenment ceremonies, ascension, etc). Restraint will get you killed. As often as possible, disciplines should be used to honour The Hag, as it would in other Circles, to other 'gods'.

Haven Circle Law

  • Labor diligently to acquire knowledge, for it is power.
  • When in authority decide reasonably, for your authority may cease.
  • Bear with fortitude the ills of time, remember that no sorrow is perpetual.
  • Love virtue - for it brings peace.
  • Abhor vice - for it brings evil.
  • Obey those in authority in all just things, that virtue may be exalted.
  • Cultivate the social virtues, and you will be loved by all.

    House Law

  • Do not mess in the nest, EVER.
  • Your Circle mates are put first in all things.
  • The letter of the law is not always the spirit of the law.
  • Do no harm to the circle by intent or omission.
  • Elevate your Circle mates at every opportunity, as they will elevate you.
  • Ask within The Circle for assistance before asking outside The Circle, aid is free within but not without.
  • There is no debt between circle mates (2,5,6).
  • For Circle matters only, judgement is by peer only and so is resolution.
