Family History

Summary

Named after Haight-Ashbury, the Californian neighborhood known for its history of, and being the origin of, hippie counterculture, the family currently comprises of two known members. Both Celene, and Redfoot lead the family in a co-ownership as blood siblings and together, they seek to bring spiritual enlightenment to the world; but each in their own way. The family is a Daeva-only pure clan family, with no known unique bloodlines. However, there is no denial that the blood does carry its own gift as its members are found to have correlating experiences in regard to the supernatural and the occult. They who share the blood have a talent in understanding mysticism, and with it, the urge to explore its many mysteries and intricacies.

The Past

1967. California. The Summer of Love. A time of greater pleasures and peace between people and family, but also a time of great conflict and misunderstanding. It was during this summer between the drug-filled orgiastic celebrations and the new era of rock and roll washing over the nation that the Ashbury family found its unconventional roots. No one really knew his name, or if we did, we made certain to forget it. Worst part still is that none of us knew why he did it. Some of us thought he had a death-wish, that the Prince of Los Angeles had already put a price on his head so he went out of his way to make himself as much of a nuisance as possible before being ashed. Others suspected him of being greedy, driven-deep by the vice that controls all Daeva and rushed himself headlong into oblivion in a drug-induced haze. Some even suspected that he was just plain crazy, and that it was the last straw that broke the camel's back. None are really sure why it happened, but in that summer of '67, a mass embrace took place and swept through the neighbourhood of Haight-Ashbury to claim countless of lives. What came after was chaos. Once the parties had died down and the drugs and alcohol had run out, the police were eventually called in drive out the masses. During the stampede of the hundreds trying to get away, we found that the Prince had learned of our Sire's crime and had called a bloodhunt over his head. Our heads. We were his spawn, and we were nothing but vermin crawling around the streets of Los Angeles in the Prince's eyes. So we were hunted, and knowing nothing of the creatures we had became, without a teacher to guide us, and without help. We ran and we survived.

The Present

The current known members of the Ashbury family reside in Queensland, Australia. They continue their occult worship and studies while remaining in touch with their Daeva roots, plotting our retainers from their herds in advance and embracing only the most promising and sometimes, the most delicious. Both Redfoot and Celene have their own individuals goals but at the core of their understanding remains the same. They are here to spread the words of influence among the kine and those of the blood alike, and to make them see the true majesty of the Daeva's gifts in its most glorious form; passion. Whether that's passion for pursuing art, gaining the interest of a certain human, undermining the efforts of a common enemy, feasting on the emotions of fear and anger spewed out from the wailing of riots or another banquet entirely remains to be seen.

Joining the Family

The Ashbury family has several positions open for players to join:

• Ashbury Family Sire - A low humanity Daeva with ties to the Los Angeles court. You embraced for reasons of your own without regard to the consequences. You are aged but reckless, fueled by compulsion and desire equally. Suggested Antagonist role.

• Ashbury Family Sibling - You were there during the Summer of Love. You felt the cultural impact of the time and the world around you, and like the rest of your siblings you were hunted down but unlike most, you survived. Embraced in California, you came to Australia either through your own means or through the help of others.

• Ashbury Family Childer - You were chosen and embraced by the members of the family due to several reasons. Maybe it's because you hold promise and get things done. Perhaps its your curiosity of darker unusual things that drew you close. Or maybe its just because you're as passionate as we are about something. A driving force to live by. Whatever the means, you normally begin your journey with us as a ghoul, but if not, perhaps that means there was just something special and striking about you that made us want you immediately.

• Ashbury Family Ghoul - We found you or perhaps, you found us. Either way, we were drawn to eachother and in eachother we learned what it meant to feel alive. You have a role to play, and things will always be expected of you. But you know that at the end of the night, there will be a second set of eyes watching over you and looking out for your best interests. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't, and we just happen to know you very well indeed.
