U nostru parola, attacca cum'è i farri.
'our word binds us as chains'
Overview
The House of Binding, also well known as the House of Horror due to the actions of Signore di Tirruri, was first created to become one of the great Invictus houses of the world. It was to become the standing authority on Kindred Oaths, and to be the ones sought out for notaries, knowledge, or merely advice.
Origins and Progenitor
- Signore di Tirruri was a violent and cruel leader and teacher who, above all else, deeply believed in standing by your word.
- He was embraced as the first childer of a Daeva known as Horkos in 524AD.
- After his embrace, he quickly fell to the ravages of humanity loss and almost succumbed.
- To save him, his sire brought him into the bloodline and spent years cultivating back some of the humanity he had lost.
- He created the Casa di Temperance in 680AD and gained several members in as many years. He brought the members and the house before his sire in 824AD as a gift and a means of thanks.
- His sire, Horkos shunned the gift, claiming the house would never survive because Signore was too unkind, too cruel, and believed him unable to maintain a good leadership.
- Scorned, Signore left his sire and decided to prove he could make the house one of perfect oath enforcement without the humanity his sire so adored.
- Signore believed he if could avus a member of each clan into the bloodline, it would spread and all kindred were bound by their own blood to stand by their word, and he would have all those kindred within his house, forever proving Horkos wrong.
- Signore believed this to be the secret to proving his father wrong.
- He took it upon himself to be the one to avus everyone in, refusing to accept help from family, if it were to be offered.
- He progressively killed off a great number of members of his house, undoing all the work his sire and he had put in and giving the House of Binding a new reputation (and the secondary name translation) as the House of Horror.
- As news of what he had done spread through Corsica, Signore began hunting down kindred of potential in 954AD, blood-bonding them, and bringing them into Casa di Temperance when they were unable to say no.
- In order to find better kindred, he began travelling across the seas, to lands who had not heard of him, or of his house, to find worthy prospects.
- He then began attempting to force-avus kindred into his bloodline. This was made simpler by the blood-bond, the kindred wanted him to be happy.
- In 1042, he successfully avused a Nosferatu into the bloodline.
- Despite his best attempts, he never succeeded in avusing any members of the other clans.
Clans and Covenant
- The house is open to members of all clans.
- Currently the primary family lines are members of the Kerberos and Sons of Horkos bloodlines.
- The only covenant able to join are the Invictus.
- Notaries are heavily encouraged to join, as are all other Invictus.
- However, approval to join the house is upon agreement of all members, and in particular the three main players responsible for it's creation.
History of Corsica
- Pippin the Short of France engaged in a successful campaign against the Lombards, and in 756 handed over some of the territory he had gained to the Pope. Known as Pippin's Gift, it later formed the basis for the the development of the Papal States.
- Corsica was part of this gift, but was one of the territories whose administration the Pope left to others. So the Corsicans were at the mercy of whatever governor happened to be in charge.
- The following 200 years Corsica was repeatedly invaded by the Saracens.
- From 680AD onwards the House successfully recruited members and by the end of 800AD had a large membership and kindred came and spoke highly of the Casa di Temperance, or House of Binding. A place you could go to make an oath, or find appropriate punishment for one who broke their word.
- Sometime after 830AD membership of the house began to sharply decline. Initially this was thought to be a result of Saracen invasion. In time it became clear it was Signore wiping out the kindred of the house. Many were unsure of why, and most did not care, they merely wanted to leave alive.
- By 950AD membership stabilised at two members plus Signore, both members blood-bonded to him. It was around this time that Signore realised he could not recruit within Corsica for potential members.
- Just as government was establishing in Corsica, Signore announced he was leaving to travel, and would return with members of the house. The other two members were left to watch the house while he found new members.
Members
Historical Leaders
- A kindred calling himself Signore di Tirruri (Lord of Terror) was Serratura di a Casa di Temperance for 902 years from 680AD to 1582, when he was killed by his sire.
- Margarita del Spada took on the role of Matriarca Serratura in 1582 after Signore di Tirruri was killed by another of his clan. She was killed by an enemy of her family in 1912.
- Ljónynja Øringr became Serratura di a Casa di Temperance in 1912, after avenging Margarita as per her last request. She has remained head of the household since that time with the mantle to be passed on as secretly discussed with others of the household upon her death.
Current
- Matriarca Serratura di a Casa di Temperance Alder Lord Ljónynja Øringr (The Lock)
- Taliallu Lord Onryō (The Horror)
- Saldatura Alder Lord Delphi (The Welding)

House Coat of Arms and Sigil
- The House Coat of Arms changes with each Serratura that has passed through, but all have similarities and familiarities between them, and all display the sigil.
- The first was a depiction of Signore himself, but with enhanced demonic features. Across his head like a crown lay the three chains.
- The second was a three-headed dog, each holding a link in its mouth, but all three chains still connected.
- The current is a lions head, holding the chains gently in its mouth.
- The sigil of the house is a set of three chains, all linked together. The three chains initially represented Signore and the other two members, but now represents the three chains of command. On the left is the Taliallu, the chain which punishes. One the right is the Saldatura, a perfectly formed chain with no flaws and no sign of where it was fused together, as the chain of binding, and in the middle, holding the two together, is the Serratura, the chain that locks them together.
