Mien: Deep black eyes and red fingers that occasionally leak blood. His breath stinks of alcohol masking something else.

Mantle: A cool breeze blows Ellis’ unique cocktail of odour directly into your face. Directly meeting his gaze gives you a distinct itch in the small of your back.

Mortality

Ellis was a successful doctor from Perth. He completed his Bachelors with top marks and moved straight to a prominent hospital in America. During this time he also worked in Doctors without Borders. After twenty years in the hospital he decided to move on to private practice. After an insurance case gone badly he lost everything. His job and house were taken to pay the funds of a spoilt princeling who didn’t like the service he got. Destitute, Ellis foolishly took an ‘overseas’ job. A one way trip to Arcadia, and he asked for it.

Arcadia

At first everything was as Ellis had expected it. He was tasked with helping the sick and needy; saving lives. Still, something was niggling at him. Most of his patients would quickly fall from good health. After a year in the Surgery, he was taken to meet his Keeper: The Lord of Blood and Bones. All Ellis can remember of his Keeper was a shadowy figure, sleeping recumbent in a pool of blood. What sticks in his mind is the Blood Tithe. Life energy, paid each day to the Pool.

Ellis realised he was tasked with maintaining the health of those who had paid the price. Each day he would frantically struggle to keep them alive, despite his growing exhaustion from having to pay the Blood Tithe himself. The change came when he started to sap the life of his charges, and pay that. Then he met Vera.

Escape

Vera was a Lost, recently taken. She was a nurse and stationed with Ellis. She was constantly optimistic, always trying to help others. After a year she was taken to Pool to pay her first Tithe. She offered the Fey another option: She would give her life in exchange for the others to be released. Before the Fey could respond, she leapt into the Pool. A life, freely given proved to be the Lord’s undoing. His throne crumbled and his guardians withered. Ellis took the opportunity to make his escape. He knows that the Lord is not dead, only momentarily weakened.

Recent Events

Ellis escaped to Osaka, Japan. Ignorant of what he was and distraught at what he had done to survive he went underground, taking whatever jobs he could for anyone willing to pay for some surgery. He also started drinking. Heavily. It was in Japan that he met Luke Deckard who taught him about Changeling society and what it meant to be Lost. Ellis figured he should take control of his life. He travelled slowly down through South-East Asia, working as he went. He arrived in Brisbane just after Tross took control. Reclusive, but not threatening, he joined the Brisbane freehold.
