Personal Information

Gunnar Joensen, his wife Maria and children Barbara (a.k.a Barb 7) and Frank (a.k.a. Frankie 5) lived in their own house in Yaronga. Gunnar is an architect in a country wide firm, Maria was a part time secretary for a panel beater. They were devout worshipers of the Old Norse pantheon.

In mid 1990 Gunnar was out of state consulting on a new building in Sydney, when it happened. Maria and the kids were at home when they were the victims of a home invasion. Maria did her best to defend her kids injuring one of the assailants with a knife, Barb almost got away but was caught just outside the front door. When the police finally arrived the house had been ransacked and the family stabbed to death.

Gunnar was devastated. The police managed to identify two of the perps, though there is evidence that there were at least five in the gang that killed the Joensens. One of the suspects was found *redacted* and another, Paul Kersey, was arrested.

Due to a piece of key evidence (his blood recovered from the scene) going missing Paul Kersey managed to get off. He fled the state that day. Gunnar was outraged and demanded an investigation into anyone that would have handled the blood. A constable was suspended for mishandling evidence, but it was too late Paul had disappeared. Gunnar suffering insomnia started regularly walking around late at night. One night however a couple young men decided to mug him at knife point. Gunnar took his rage and grief out on them, breaking one’s leg and knocking out the other. The police put the incident down as self defence and told Gunnar to be more careful.

For a couple months it seemed like he had developed a death wish and went out regularly trying to find criminals preying on the innocents. He started getting in more and more fights, ending up in hospital late 1991. Talking to his friends while recovering they came up the idea to start the “Children of Tyr” figuring they could protect more people if there was more of them.

Personality

Well spoken with a rage boiling beneath the surface. He manages to suppress it when he needs to. He finds peace in the fight and devotion to his gods
