Personality

Unfailingly polite, with a practiced lack of formality. He does not concern himself with Trivial Boons, neither asking for nor requiring them for anything that can be resolved in a conversation. He loves to talk and will spend hours exchanging tales with anyone who is willing to sit and chat.

He is a recluse for much of the mortal world, although he is known to be a progressive businessman with interests in sports, prostitution, pornography and mining.

Timeline

• 1706 He establishes a brothel catering to the wealthiest members of town. He becomes known as “entertaining company” for many of the local ladies. The many “gifts” he receives from these ladies makes him a wealthy man. He uses this wealth to purchase titles in France and Germany. He styles himself Compte Jacques de Loit et Markgraf Von Loit from this point on.

• 1713 Encounters a bewitching woman, who would later become his sire. He impresses her with his charm, manners and learning. She showers him with trinkets and after feeding upon him dismisses him as "another silly young nobleman.”

• 1714 Having discovered his business dealings and his dubious origin his sire decides to preserve him. He is abducted by her ghouls and forcibly embraced.

• 1714 – 1739 Travels around the courts of Europe with his sire. He learns of his nature and starts to accumulate the skills required to survive, but finds himself unable to compete with the established kindred of Europe.

• 1740 Boards a ship and travels to the French colonies in Asia.

• 1741 Establishes his first brothel in Bangkok.

• 1777 Buys first ship, captained by his ghoul. Ship is crewed by freebooters and often engages in piracy.

• 1795 Establishes a “Trading House” in Macau to fence the proceeds of his pirate fleet.

• 1803 Establishes more “Trading Houses” in Singapore, Japan, Korea and Vietnam.

• 1805 Becomes involves in the trade of “Coolies” throughout the region.

• 1825 Discovers his sire has been traveling around Europe with a charming Spaniard, and is inducted in to their cult.

• 1830 Embraces Nathaniel Thorne, but the new vampire suffers a psychotic break and rushes off to feed upon and embrace his family. Finds the mans' wife dead and beyond saving, his child changing and suffering from his fathers blood madness and his sister newly changed and still unaware of her new condition. He establishes a vinculum with the sister and adopts her as his childe and destroys the infant vampire as an abomination.

• 1830-1866 Trains childer to be a charming and cunning predator, introduces her to some contacts in Europe and releases her.

• 1855 One of his captains sinks a boat carrying Algol, stranding him on the shores of north Western Australia. Algol survives and pursues the matter, claiming a life debt from Jacques

• 1868 Jacques returns to his enterprises in Asia, but finds the political climate unfavourable. He offloads most of his assets and heads for Australia.

• 1892 Gold is discovered in Coolgardie, and Jacques establishes a kindred presence in the area and takes control of the region.

• 1896 Hears of trouble with his childe in European courts. Arranges transport and sets out to repair situation.

• 1897 Arrives to find she is being “assisted” by White. Sends them off to the relative safety of Australia and stays to pay of her debts and settle scores.

• 1898-1903 Through a campaign of whispers and innuendo he brings down the cabal of Crone responsible for his childes troubles, this takes nearly 5 years but by the time he is finished none of them remain alive. He settles most of his debts and sets out for Australia.

• 1905 Jaques relocates to Kalgoorlie with the establishment of the railway, and sets about increasing his holdings once again.

• 1900's Time begins to take its toll. There are whispers about Jacques' “activities.”

• WW1 Massive depopulation of the nation, but the mines remain open and population stable on the gold-fields. Many kindred who try to relocate there are never heard from again.

• 1930's The whispers are no longer hidden. There is open talk of “when” rather than “if” he falls to wassail.

• 1945 Is “convinced” to enter a period of torpor, so that he may regain some of the clarity he has lost.

• 1999 Awakens to find the world much changed. Half of his town has been swallowed by the Super-Pit and technology now allows for near instantaneous communication. Kindred society is full of new faces, many of them unfamiliar with his history.

• 1999 Spends much of his time meditating and trying to recall details of his past, assigns 10 years to this task. Remains in seclusion in Kalgoorlie during this time.

• 2009 His meditations are interrupted by someone who claims to be from the “Praxis” asserting their claim over his territory. He plays it safe and agrees to pay a small fee to hold on to his territory.

• 2009 “The Praxis” request help dealing with a strange thing happening to the north of his territory. He assists in destroying a strange new monster.

• 2009 “The Praxis” request help covering up the activities of the monster by eliminating any possible witness to the breach of the masquerade. He travels to the town and is assisted by White in killing the population of the town, or feeding them to Algol [which amounts to the same thing]
