Introduction

Descended from a dark elder with venomous intentions, the Line of Kaloyan is a group of brash iconoclausts focused, with a nigh-suicidal passion, on avoiding the steady creep of social decay and bringing about a true sense of equality and justice to a world that's never known such a thing. While their ancestry can be traced back to the sixth century, they became more common around the 17th Century onward. Some say that they were always there, just getting louder. Some say that the lowest of the line realized what was happening, and started to turn against it.
There is, however, no escaping the sense that they're fighting against something, and that their battle has only become more desperate in the Final Nights. Nobody's quite sure what it is, though.

House Summary

Everything has a place, and a purpose. Whether the purpose is immediately apparent or not, one should not allow it to serve as a distraction.
Kaloyan the Vlach

The Line of Kaloyan are engaged in a desperate guerrilla fight against the tyranny of their Elder and his Childer, fighting to avoid and overthrow the bleak future he intends to create. His idea of a New Carthage is a police state, ruled by the government: an Orwellian masterpiece. As best as they can, his Childer try to avoid the full extent of his plans coming to fruition, but his influence is significant. They're a family through and through, banding together and doing their best to seem subservient lest they attract his attention, but sometimes, despite their efforts, they do.
They're fighting a losing battle to avoid his nefarious plans. Their own ranks are beginning to fracture as he finally begins to stir, breaking them apart without a great deal of difficulty. However, thus far, they haven't split - they've continued to work to bring a small bit of equality to the grim World of Darkness, fighting for their cause despite the obstacles in their path.
Meanwhile, their progenitor watches what he can, influences things, and lets them act as a smokescreen while he continues his work. The Final Nights are falling, and only one side will remain standing.

Features

While Elders typically feature a sympathy with harsh views, around the 9th Generation, an underlying streak of commitment to social justices and freedoms became apparent. Those Embraced after the change in the lineage's attitudes need to have both a commitment to social justice. Combat skills aren't looked down upon, but they're not vital - a certain low cunning, however, is. Most members need to be able to keep their under the table lest it attract attention - building influence in groups aligned with causes of equality, or developing economic health in neighborhoods so that feeding might be easier.

  • With the creation of a new capital in 1927, Twilight and her Childe are sent to Canberra to take it and help build the country into one where social justice is not a distant dream.
  • In 1929, Evangeline is put into torpor for unknown reasons. Her loyalty to the head of the line increases, significantly.
