Paragon Nightclub Cnr Eastern Beach Rd and Moorabool St Geelong.

From the outside it is a modest, triple storey building, you could almost walk past the plain, black painted door during the day with it’s simple laser cut steel sign over the top of a wall board listing band names and upcoming attractions. Walking inside, once past the simple cloakroom area the space opens out into a large area that appears to have once been a theatre now converted into a nightclub. The stage and a sunken dance floor dominate the main area. Several raised areas accessible by staircases that can accommodate seating line the walls opposite the bar, however they are often occupied by dancers of varying gender and description, patrons and security staff. A large bar dominates the end of the space opposite the stage beside the entrance and cloakroom Paragon1.jpg

A mezzanine level overlooks the open space and dance floor below and a second bar is set in one corner whilst a large lighting and sound control area is set on a raised platform in the centre. There is a small amount of seating and a couple of booths toward the rear behind the sound control platform, with a discreet set of lift doors seen on the back wall. Paragon2.jpg

The lift is operated by a key fob issued upon joining the VIP lounge, stepping out visitors enter a very different area well soundproofed from the main areas of the club. A full size grand piano sits in the raised space above the bar and couches and booths are dotted around rather than stools and open space. The feel is a lot more intimate though the space can still be used by quite a number of people.
