Freehold Pledges
THE DAY OF THE PLEDGE:
As each season turns it's back and the new stands to face front, so must all make their pledge to the new season before them. Be it on the first of the season, or the first court of that season, it must be done and acknowledged by the monarch. Without it's acknowledgement, the pledge is not heard, and the promise not binding, by either party. If there is no monarch, then no protection can be offered, no bay to shelter you from the storm. It is said, that if ever there is a time where no monarchs remain to hear the pledge, then the gates will be open and THEY will all return to claim what is theirs.
The Freehold

Smithfield House IRL is the location of the freehold, over in Harristown. In the human world, it is much as it is now, in a built up area, with a park nearby. The home is heritage listed with two stories and is not occupied. It has been used for photo shoots, some social occasions, but these are uncommon now, as the vast gardens are no more, and it is essentially just a house sized lot, albeit with a delightful period homestead on it. Beyond the world, in the hedge, the homestead is on large acreage. The gardens somewhat remain, however they are quite overgrown, and over time are being consumed by the hedge, thorns and creepers making their way through everything. Once Manicured lawns make way to long grass fields up to your knees. The home has been fortified, covered with barbs and bars, thorned hedges making egress quite the challenge. From here, the home appears occupied, but not by anything or anyone safe.
