Matters have not been helped by an ongoing tension with the nearby underwater kingdom of Rebma. Rebma's ambassadors has been esspecially hostile and easy to take offense ever since Random took the throne of Kashfa. They still hate Random for dishonoring their princess and hate his influence in Kashfa even more. A few years ago, King Random appointed Nerus Lyn as regent of Kasfha. Nerus Lyn rules still. Kashfa is a close political ally of Amber. With the absence of King Random, Oberon and the elder Amberites the kingdom is becoming increasingly volatile. But some people are drawn to volatile places. One man's disaster is another's opportunity. Now might be the time for some heretofore unseen faces to make themselves known. <br>

Game will be at Turner Scout Hall at 1pm.

Overview

Games are set largely in Kashfa, a near shadow and close ally and trading partner of Amber itself. The shadow is similar to Amber in style and setting in many ways (i.e. loosely medieval fantasy, gunpowder, internal combustion engines and electronics don't work).

Shadow walking and other techniques to attempt to change the shadow are very difficult here, you can make some localised and temporary changes. But generally you must travel some distance from the city before shadow walking.

Magic and Trump powers still work in Kashfa.

Sorcery and conjuration work in Kashfa, but are limited.

Most games will be set in the Castle throne room, at the discretion of the local King or Queen. Side rooms are available for players to have scenes that are set elsewhere. However, this is an Amber focused game; it assumed that all PCs will care about who sits on the throne of Amber.

Recent History of Kashfa

The kingdom of Kashfa has been controlled by Amber or one of its children, either officially or unofficially, for many years. Its own royal line is largely obscured by intermixings with Amberites and various political coups. The only child remaining with some connection to the royal family is an orphaned infant, and ward of the state, Yuma.

The "Princess", Yuma, was returned to Kashfa with Marcella, Marina and Lexcen, raised to just shy of eighteen in a fast time shadow. But it was decided that technically she is still only 19 months old in Kashfa years and therefore ineligible to rule in her own right. She appointed her "godmother" Princess Marcella of Unicornicopia as regent.

A deal was struck with the Rebman general and his troops were marched back to Rebma through a portal, along with most of the Kashfa treasury and the comatose body of the previous regent's killer. But the Kashfa crown was saved from this fate. Hector, Nathan, Jafar and Marcella took the crown to Castle Amber for safekeeping.

Festival of Mirrors

The Festival of Mirrors happens in Kashfa once a year. Legend has it that on the night of the first full moon in spring, if you light a candle before a mirror and look into it before you go to sleep, you will dream of your future.

The festival is a popular holiday in Kashfa. Shop fronts often include displays of mirrors and sell overpriced scented candles. The streets are decorated with metal foil and glass baubles and lights. Young people eschewing the tradition make a point of staying up late and not sleeping until dawn, often holding raucus parties instead. People often talk about what they hope they'll dream of.
