Maddy was born to Angela and Marco Palma on the 1st or March 1980. They had immigrated a few years before hand from Italy to make the most of the mining boom that had started with Olympic Damn. She is the eldest of three children, her brother Antonio was born just over a year after herself, and her sister Natasha was born less than a year after her brother.
At the age of 4, Maddy's parents noticed that she had a natural talent for dancing. They quickly enrolled her in the local dance school.
