Adelaide History Vampire the Requiem CofD
The History recorded here is Specifically for the Adelaide Vampire the Requiem CofD Game. Some information is Domain History. This will be Updated as the DSS is updated. Not all History here is IC knowledge, not all History here is correct.
World building: The city and characters are still in development. Please let me know any ideas you want added (Don't have to be linked to your PC) and if they fit the city they will be included.
1829-1850
- 1829: Charles Sturt leads his Expedition to South Australia from NSW.
- 1836: The Colony of South Australia is Founded. This is overseen by a coterie of Elders known as the Adelaide Society.
- 1839: Colonel William Light Dies.
- 1841: Construction of the old Adelaide Gaol Begins.
- 1848: The Savings Bank of South Australia begins trading from a room in Gawler Place, This begins the Metro Boom of the North City.
1851-1900
- 1856: The South Australian Institute is founded.
- 1857: Adelaide Botanic Gardens opens at Today’s site in the Parklands off North Terrace. The hidden locations between trees would make it ideal for feeding. However it is never included in the nearby rack.
- 1858: A telegraph line between Adelaide and Melbourne is opened.
- 1899: Prince Duke Arthur Reid has the other cities of Australia contacted, inviting Kindred to move to Adelaide. This ends the self imposed Cloistering since the cities founding.
1901-1950
- 1901: Adelaide became a state capital upon the establishment of the Commonwealth of Australia on 1 January. The Duke and Duchess of York visit.
- 1905: Numerous vampires have been created over the last decade as cannon fodder for a war that never happened, forming a two-tiered system in Adelaide between the Kindred who have status in the city and attend court and the others. With higher standards of Embrace, greater age, and more resources the Kindred of the city are able to rule even though the Vampires don't adhere to the right of creation, causing their numbers to spiral.
- 1908: The Outer Harbour Train line is built.
- 1915: Matthew Beaufort, long serving Ghoul of the Invictus, is embraced.
- 1926: Thanks to the rise in fishing The Metro Boom of Port Noarlunga Begins.
- 1931: A riot begins after the removal of the beef from the Dole Ration. This causes the injury of 27 People and the deaths of 5.
- 1943: Alcohol is prohibited.
- 1944: The introduction of rationing of meat and vegetables begins. Adelaide goes into a state of panic over the overwhelming population and lack of food. Many people die of malnutrition. As a knock of effect, the over embracing by the vampires becomes more noticeable. The rack is formed but restricted.
- 1945: Further feeding restrictions are implemented. Almost all of them discriminate against vampires.
- 1945: Under the leadership of a vampire calling himself Vox the vampires attempt revolution. They embrace many returning soldiers.
- 1946: 20 vampires are killed and 10 captured, effectively ending the vampire uprising. Prince Reid crucifies the captured vampires and makes them meet the sun as a display of the power of Kindred compared to their wild cousins and descendants. Vox is not caught.
1951-2000
- 1950s: Georgiana Turpin embraced into the Invictus of Adelaide.
- 1955: Law firm Davenport Blackburn Atkins founded. It quickly takes a place as the preeminent law firm of Adelaide. It just as quickly gains a reputation for being amoral but highly skilled.
- 1965: Adelaide Begins building its Subway to connect both Noarlunga and Gawler via the CBD.
- 1967: Four children from the renowned Ashbury family disappear from Semaphore Beach without a trace. The whereabouts of Martha (9), Graham (7), Kenneth (10) and Nancy (6) are never determined. Police open up investigations but are unable to come up with any solid leads.
- 1970s: Dee arrives in Adelaide
- 1977: The tenth anniversary of the Ashbury disappearances is a sombre day in the City of Adelaide. Unable to locate any leads over a ten year period, the South Australian Police Force is heavily criticised by the public. Police Commissioner Robert Lockley later resigns that year.
- 1980: Marie Davenport taken on the role of Senior Partner at Davenport Blackburn Atkins. Any who know the firm well aren't surprised as she had been running if for some time with her fathers blessing. Kindred in the know realise the father was a ghoul cutout and Marie had been waiting a long time for society to reach the point where she could openly take the reigns of the organisation she built.
- 1982: The town hall Elysium was attached by a single powerful, yet unknown, Kindred with a handful of ghouls. Father Chandler deems it unsafe as the perpetrators weren’t captured.
- 1982: Magic Mountain opens up. It has a very large House of Horrors and hidden Elysium under that. Security is impressive for the time. It continues to be state of the art.
- 1983: Retired Police Commissioner Robert Lockley is found dead in his home in Alberton. The case is officially ruled as a suicide. A memorial plaque is installed at the Port Adelaide police station - where he once served.
- 1988: Ariadne Fitzchambers embraced into the All-Night Society.
- 1993: Adelaide enters a technological Boom as funding from the Government pushes for everyone to be equipped with the future. This is a front to install more Poker Machines within the City.
- 1993: Helena settles in Adelaide.
- 1997: The previous CEO of the City ‘retires’. The position is handed over to Helena.
- 1998: Nathaniel Fitzchambers embraced and enters the All-Night Society
2001-Present
- 2003: A terrible explosion happens on the Adelaide Freeway killing 31 People and injuring 2 others.
- 2005: Explosions happen more frequently around the City, with the fear of 9/11 still well intact the Police treat this as an act of terrorism on the City.
- 2005: Wicked-V accepted into the All-Night Society.
- 2006: Adelaide begins falling into an Economic Depression, finding jobs becomes harder and the rate of suicide jumps immensely.
- 2006: Frank Wilson embraced.
- 2009: The SA Government and Adelaide Council agree to create the new Adelaide Oval. One of the major funders is the Wattle Group who finance and construct much of it. Davenport Blackburn Atkins handles the majority of legal work including the outsourced control of the tendering process.
- 2010: Local environmentalist group ‘Cleaner and Greener’ launches a public protest against the Public Transport service, arguing for newer, safer and more environmentally friendly vehicles. Three days later, the protest ends unsuccessfully.
- 2012: Phoebe Gwenllian moves to Adelaide and takes on a destitute theatre, refurbishing it as a café catering to supernaturals.
- 2014: Melanie Reyes is introduced to the Court as part of the Fitzchambers family.
- 2016: A massive storm front smashes Adelaide and South Australia. The state is crippled by power outages that affect the Metropolitan area for up to four days, with some parts of rural South Australia without power for up to 7 days. The State Emergency Service receives an influx of recruits and is able to quickly distribute sandbags throughout the state. The Adelaide Metropolitan Fire Service provides much-needed assistance - being praised for its quick response times and highly trained staff.
- 2016: Lance Novell embraced and enters the All-Night Society.
- 2017: Margarete Wulfhild moves to Adelaide.
- 2017: JD MacDonald moves to Adelaide.
