Roisin was born in 1172, daughter of the Uí Neíll Clan. Married to a Duncan, a Knight of Hugh de Lacy in a political alliance (Mortal children: Maired, Susanna, Cadwallon, Gwladus and Morgan). It was a time of great turmoil in the land. The First Lord if Ireland, King John visiting to help consolidate the Norman-controlled lands while ensuring that the Irish Kings swore fealty to him. Ireland was divided politically with shifting petty kingdoms and over kingdoms. Power was held by the few. Throughout this time, it was customary for English Kings to weaken the power of the Norman Lords in Ireland, and so it was that Roisin’s Husband was used as a tool, and scapegoat.

Sir Hugh was encouraged by the king to destabilise then overthrow a local Lord. To accomplish this task, he ordered the assistance of Roisin’s husband Duncan, and his brother Miles. As is often the way with war and betrayal, Duncan and Miles were singled out as deserters and dispossessed of their lands.

This did not sit well with Roisin. Her Irish blood boiled at the injustice. Always well known for her striking looks, Roisin was also an impassioned speaker. Her graceful stature and well worded speeches were all it took for the people to be compelled to form a resistance and fight with the fierce woman to return her husband and brother, and seek to restore their lands.

Accompanied by her eldest son Morgan, she was the figurehead of a barely organised but highly enthusiastic band of 100 free folk. Unfortunately, they faced a force of over 400.
During the ensuing combat, her son Morgan as slain, and she received a grievous wound. Left to die on the field as night fell.

That evening she felt her breath begin to fade, while she lay amongst the dead and dying a figure began to walk through the field. With the small body of a child, the woman picked her way through the bodies littering the field, with a definite target in mind. Vashti found the wounded beauty, and with a strength belying her size, lifted the woman and carried her from the field. The year was 1205.

As the years passed, she was encouraged to write down her love songs and poetic words. She became well read in scripture and spiritual works, both older and contemporary, and her sire ensured she maintained a well stocked library. Many of her own works describe the deep and abiding love of God, and the joy of living and the fullness of love.

After 20 years, she met and fell in love with a young man named Johannes Together the two travelled Europe. They moved to Aix-en-Provence, while her sire Vashti ruled as Prince. There they added to their family. None but close family, and the childer themselves know which of the two Toreador are actually their sire.

In the late 1500’s like many of their line, they moved to America. Riosin and her childer sis not stay there long however, choosing to return to her homeland in 1670 (Vashti was in torpor).

Roisin is known as a warrior poet. Her skill with the sword is matched with her skill with the pen. She is a Master in the Guild of Apollo.
