Born of the blood of Kings and Queens, Vashti was raised to be a Persian princess. She was groomed to perfection and slaves waited on her every whim. Told she was beautiful from her very birth, and blessed by the gods, as she was a twin. She was taught the arts of a noble woman from as soon as she could talk. She was schooled in singing, art, dancing and managing a household, but it was the adventures of her brothers, most especially her twin Kouros that captured her interest. Kouros and Vashti were inseparable from birth. They shared an ethereal beauty, and like many twins seemed to have such a deep connection that they developed their own language well before they could speak. As the two grew older and demands of gender pulled them apart, Vashti grew more unsettled. She neglected her own lessons in favour of sneaking to watch the boys practicing sword play. When chastised, she would sullenly acquiesce, knowing that after the sun set, her brother would find his way to her bed and they would speak of their adventures well into the night, limbs entwined.

Life for a Princess was dangerous, even when your father was only brother to the King. After escaping marriage (her husband dying on her wedding night), Vashti’s family were the victims of a political coup. Her father and older brother were killed alongside the King during an attack by Bedouins. Her other older brother was imprisoned and tortured. Kouros disappeared during the attack, and no one could find him. Vashti, her mother and sister escaped the carnage and sought refuge in Rome. There, as she was about to be married off once again for political reasons, she encountered a powerfully persuasive woman. This woman, Eletria took Vashti from the wedding estate, where an attack was imminent, and that very evening embraced her. The magical of this new existence was still fresh when Vashti was reunited with her twin, who had similarly been transformed, but by the blood of a Gangrel.

Vashti travelled extensively through Europe in the pursuit of her art. She was often accompanied by the Persian Warrior Kouros and rumours spread about the closeness of the Toreador and the Gangrel. In the 16th Century, abruptly, Vashti sold her estates, and removed her household from the continent, citing moving to the New world. Rumours of a powerful Toreador gathering her blood to her abounded, but no-one was willing to ask.

In the new world, Vashti was seen in the cities with her Sire Eletria once more (Chicago, Veracruz). A renowned and accomplished painter, Vashti was dismayed at so many of Eletria’s brood being poseurs, and left the city to establish herself in a city more to her own proclivities. Vashti was seen for many years in the courts of New Orleans and Boston, before embarking on another cross world journey to Australia.

In Australia, Vashti has had a presence in the Capital Canberra. She established one of the cities longest running Burlesque Theatres, and is a major patron of the School of Fine Arts. She has a keen eye for talent, and many a career has been buoyed or crushed by the smallest word from this distinguished Kindred.

In recent years, she has withdrawn from public life in the Camarilla, choosing to concentrate on private pursuits. Many now realise that the way to this woman lies with her Childe La Belle Dame d'Lumiere

Persian Princess. She dresses in exquisite materials and jewellery picked to match her long dark hair and blue eyes.


Personality

Vashti was born a Princess and is used to getting her own way. She is powerfully magnetic and genial, but has a distinct mean streak. She is a renowned artist, and has over the years become quite the respected critic. One small word from her can make or break a career. Neonates vie for her favour, but shudder at the consequences of producing inferior work. Vashti is known to take mortal lovers, and often plays favourites. These lovers often are offered the Embrace if they please the elder, if not by her, then by one of her favoured childer or grand-childer. Her long-time favourite is her childe La Belle Dame d'Lumiere.

Information Known by Kindred Society

  • Vashti has recently withdrawn from court life, preferring to work through those she has embraced. When the Elder does make an appearance, you can be sure that something significant will happen.
  • The Toreador is known to host lavish salons to showcase the work of her talented Protégés. Becoming her Protégé, however is a daunting endeavour, and takes months of petitioning and lavish gifts.
  • Vashti is the mortal twin sister of the Elder Gangrel Kouros.
  • Vashti has a known rivalry with the Elder Ventrue Gunderic the Vandal.
  • She has a noted distaste for those of the Nosferatu blood. Either she treats them as slaves to do her bidding, or they are beneath her notice.
  • Vashti is known to take lovers, both Kindred and mortal, but they are almost exclusively female.
  • It is known that the Toreador Elder shares an extremely close relationship with her brother Kouros. Crossing the Toreador will often mean crossing the Gangrel and vice versa.
  • Vashti established the Kindred court in Canberra in the 1980's and installed the Malkavian Göksel as it's Prince, possibly as repayment of a boon to Lucien Nevue

  • 768 - Meets Gunderic the Vandal, who pursues her. After much manoeuvring, Evangeline is given to Gunderic the Vandal and Vashti enters torpor.
  • 850 - Paris
  • 1116 - Embraces La Belle Dame d'Lumiere
  • 1205 - Embraces Roisin
  • 1300's - Becomes a Master of the Guild of Venus (Toreador only)
  • 1450 - Is present for the formation of The Camarilla
  • 1500's - Moves to the New World - Veracruz, Chicago, New Orleans
  • 1668 - Embraces Mathieu Philippe Gregois (NPC)
  • 1800's - New Orleans and surrounds. Takes several mortals as lovers in this time and some of them are embraced as Toreador.
  • 1910 - Joins the Guild of Discordia (Toreador only) She becomes a Master of this guild in 1941.
  • 1943 - Moves to Australia, Brisbane
  • 1950 - Vashti is widely considered to be the leading contender for the position Guild Master of the Guild of Discordia (Toreador Only) but Diana of Crete is selected at the final gathering.
  • 1987- Discovers that Canberra has little or no Kindred presence- and strange mortal influence preventing occupation. Vashti's expert manipulation skills and magnetic presence breaks down the barriers and she establishes the first Kindred court of Canberra. Göksel becomes the first (and so far only) Prince of the city.
  • Present - The exact whereabouts of this Elder remains Elusive. She does frequent gala openings in Canberra, and is known to travel around the country- often to see her childe La Belle Dame d'Lumiere, or to attend Toreador Salon.

Childer of Vashti's are chosen from among the most talented of mortals. Often she shows them favour and takes them as a lover first. They are all expected to continue to follow their chosen art form after embrace. Failure to impress their sire results in the childe being repudiated.
