Arcadia
Sebastian's durance was served in a Gilded House of Horrors - an enormous mansion and grounds of saccharine and baroque excess. (Imagine the masquerade ball scenes from Labyrinth.) All the guests, servants, hounds and horses were changeling, forced towear masks of gaiety even as the excess destroyed them. Dancers waltzed on broken legs, cooks carved with burnt hands, diners stuffed with food til they literally burst. No sleep, no rest, until you are too broken to continue, then you are cast aside.
A personable man before his transformation he was made an irresistible social force. His durance was to cajole, command and betray every other changeling in his keeper's menagerie. He was hated, feared and could not be denied. Insightful and empathetic, with every cut and betrayal he perpetrated he hurt himself. He never did inure himself to the pain he caused, but he did build the will to continue and a mask to hide his anguish.
Escape
As a trusted servant Sebastian was uniquely positioned to engineer an escape. To ensure his own escape he organised a mass escape of others to occur at the same time. He left doors unlocked, slipped keys to those in shackles and drugged guards.
Sebastian emerged from the Trod into Brisbane in 2010. His timing was terrible. The freehold was in the throws of a civil war and Loyalists were attacking the city. New changelings were treated with utmost suspicion. Sebastian was imprisoned, interrogated and beaten. He might have been killed, had he not expressed reluctance to swear a pledge.
As part of neutralising threats when new changelings appeared at the freehold they were asked to swear a pledge to ensure their loyalty. When the pledge was put to Sebastian he mulled it over for less than a minute then pointed out its loophole. "Whoever forged this pledge was an idiot, or a mastermind working for your enemy. Either way it does not protect you, or geas me. I will not bind myself to it." Within days Sebastian was free and working to reengineer the Pledges of the freehold.
Recent Events
Sebastian manages several businesses under the collective title of the Selenium Group. The group started as a public relations firm inherited from his fetch, but has since branched into other areas of entertainment and accommodation.

Tranquillity has a reputation for utmost discretion and several rooms with unusual and unadvertised features. Some are entirely fireproof, others are watertight, and/or light proof. All rooms are soundproofed. There is a jazz bar in the basement, themed as a 1920’s speakeasy.
