Brisbane Lost Locations
Locations
The Commons
The official meeting place and safe house of the freehold. Where the Freehold first formed long, long ago. Though it has fallen out of popularity recently, it is protected by powerful but largely unknown enchantments and spells.
More To Come.
Known Friendly Places
Camp Ascot Trod
Opened 1941, when thousands of strangers in the form of American Troops made their way here, symbolically opening the way as a place of arrival.
In recent history this Trod was captured by the servants of The Others in 2005, but was returned to the control of the Freehold by The Summer Tyrant's forces in 2007. Nowdays the Freehold still barely hold this Trod.
It has been a costly hold, but as their only consistant location for new Lost it is worth every risk taken.
Avanti Books
Part library, part cafe but always a safe place for the Free Lost to bunk down, have a feed and a natter with Lizzy and get some needed perspective and clarity about things.
The Commons
The official safehouse and meeting place for the freehold. This house was originally, according to the legend, the farmhouse of the original Autumn King before he was taken. After his escape and formation of the Freehold, The Leaden Monarch cast a powerful spell of protection over this house to protect any Free changeling who would stay here and seek refuge.
The spell still holds, even in the nearing 200 years since it was cast. Scholars wonder as to the price that was paid for such protection, but the stories do not say.
Tranquillity Apartments
Sebastian Lund's boutique apartments are often the first accommodation newly returned Lost know in Brisbane.
Tranquillity has a reputation for utmost discretion and several rooms with unusual and unadvertised features. Some are entirely fireproof, others are watertight, and/or light proof. All rooms are soundproofed. There is a jazz bar in the basement, themed as a 1920’s speakeasy.
Winnick & Tovalov: Books, Curios, and Clockwork (Formerly: Archives Fine Books and Occult Curios)
In the world of Darkness, this store is renowned amongst the goth and the occult communities as well as the literary fans as being a place where you can get some very rare niche interest books. It has also recently expanded as a business and now provides the atypical but intriguing addition of selling clocks and providing work on clockwork items. The owners, Black Rook (more commonly referred to as "That weird guy with the bird") and Adam Winnick, can often be found here either manning the counter, in the workshop, or in the former's case playing haunting tunes on the pipe organ.
The Spring Retreat
The Spring Court of Brisbane were once the staunchest supporters of unity amongst the Freehold. But when half their court was destroyed in what may have been a betrayal at the end of the civil war, they withdrew to a gated community near the golf course and haven't ventured out since.
Regular parties are held every evening, with all being tacitly invited. The whole thing seems a bit strange though.
This gym was created by the current Spring Monarch after the horror that the Summer Tyrant caused. The gym is open to select members and their guests, from 5am-10pm but rumours are it never closes. This gym boasts to have trained many champions including the likes of; “Broken Fist Tony”, “Two Hands Jenny” and even “The Wolf.”
Interesting Locations
Toowong Cemetary
The Lost have long known that this area has some weird shit that goes on here. Darklings in particular find their natural kinship with the dead grows around here.
The dead are protective of their resting places however, and it is considered unwise to spend to long here at night unprepared.
The Ripple
The flow of Glamour and the sense of the hedge is strange around here. Lost scholars all agree that the world Expo should have formed a trod here. Stories even say that it did, but vanished along with the expo.
But there isn't one here and Trods don't vanish with time, so the reason for the strangeness remains a mystery.
Point of Wariness
The Lost are aware that some strange creature (or creatures) have set themselves up in QUT. While not seemingly actively hostile, the residents are protective of their domain and the Lost are generally advised to stay away.
The Library
Outside it appears to be the Hamilton Library, but if one announces their presence to the front door and indicates their desire to achieve true knowledge regardless of the cost, then the door will take you to a much more terrifying interior.
Inside is the Domain of The Librarian and her various servants. She is said to know everything stored in any of the books in The Library, though not all at once, and The Library is said to store everything The Free Lost have ever known, even what has been forgotten.
However knowledge has it's price, it always varies and is usually very reasonable. The rarer, the higher the price though.
Dangerous Locations
Transit Centre
Stay out or the honest to God Werewolves will kick your ass and throw you out.
These guys are serious, but not impossible to deal with. As long as you're polite and ask first, passing through is usually no issue.
Archerfield
This Trod opened some time after 1939 when the RAAF and the USAAF started using the airport as both the headquarters and a major logistics location. The unstable nature of all the comings and goings, coupled with the powerful emotions made a fertile location for a Trod.
For as long as can be remembered this has been the stronghold of the Freehold, with the first freehold pledge was formed. As a symbol to the freehold, this Trod holds great importance to the Freehold.
In 2008 the forcess of The Others assaulted The Freehold in the lapse of the Freehold Pledge and in the battle take the Trod which they still hold.
Amity Trod
The oldest Trod in Brisbane, formed in 1823. As the story goes The Captain of one of the first convict ships landed, and as he marched the prisoners ashore declared "You'll never see your home again!" and spat in the water.
The story also says that of those in the crew who landed, more got off the boat than should have. This marks the landing of the first Loyalists in what would become Brisbane.
In modern nights, none living among the Free have seen this Trod, except maybe The Frozen King. This is well and truly Loyalist land.
